Bear Creek Mountain Wedding | Monica Kretschman & Brian Johnson

We were over the moon when Monica, the youngest of three sisters, reached out to us to let us know that she was engaged. Having had the joy of capturing her older two sisters say their “I dos”, Emmy to Jason and Oliva to Sam, we were excited to capture Monica and Brian’s vows for the hat trick! Their beautiful wedding at Bear Creek Mountain was the perfect place for this new chapter to begin.

Getting Ready

It’s always so fun to walk into a busy and bustling bridal suite at the beginning of a wedding day. Monica’s was no different! Everyone was enjoying themselves and we quickly busied ourselves capturing the fun and all her beautiful details. Chief among these was the vintage ring as her something borrowed.

Monica’s uncle is an incredible stylist and so he was there beautifying all the ladies, especially Monica. He was pulling double duty that day, stylist and officiant.

Once we’d captured the details and the getting ready, Monica slipped into her dress from Elizabeth Johns and picked up her bouquet from Penny’s Flowers, and voila! She was ready.

Meanwhile, not too far away in another Bear Creek Mountain suite, Brian and the guys were living the life. The beers were out, and the ties were being tied. Brian gladly accepted help with his boutonniere from his mom, and then, it was game time.

The Outdoor Ceremony at Bear Creek Mountain

After guests had a chance to snuggle up in one of the blankets that Monica and Brian had provided for everyone, the ceremony began. An obviously nervous groom walked in with Monica’s uncle, and waited with bated breath for his bride to appear. And when she did, he exhaled in a “whoa”. Whoa was right.

With the gorgeous golden hour light upon them, they wed as snowboarders and skiers made midday runs on the snowy trails. Monica’s uncle made short but poignant work of their ceremony. Their vows and rings were exchanged which lead to a fantastic first married kiss to the applause of the gathered congregation. They raced back down the aisle as husband and wife for a quick warm up before photos.

Once family formals were completed, it was portrait time, and oh man, it was amazing!

Portraits at Bear Creek Mountain

The time we had to capture these two on a literal mountaintop seemed to stand still. Brian is a little more reserved, but Monica danced enough for the both of them. Their whole portrait session was filled with laughs and lots of kisses. It was clear that they were just meant to be. And in the failing light of day, that was all that mattered.

The Reception at Bear Creek Mountain

Guests had been enjoying the delicious cocktail hour and signing the bench that Brian had made, which meant that they were ready to get the party started when the bride and groom made their entrance! It was important that they have plenty of time for dancing, and as they said, for a techno rave situation, so all the typical formalities happened in short order. After their first dance, Brian danced with his mom and then the floor opened up!

Dancing didn’t stop all night, and when the glowsticks came out, things got a little wild. Someone broke one open and painted “I <3 Monica” on Brian’s chest. Which of course he rocked. It was truly a sad moment when we had to pack up and say our final wedding goodbye to this fantastic family.

Thank you, Monica & Brian for trusting us with your memories. We wish you years of love and joy!
