Celebrate the Life You Have with A Day In the Life Session

It’s a common experience for people. You look around and suddenly everyone looks older, seems more grown up, or has achieved a new milestone. And you’re left wondering “where did time go?”

There’s not an easy answer to this question. Some of it is busy-ness. We all live demanding lives that pull us in a thousand directions at any given moment. Sometimes, things really do change overnight. Ever heard of a growth spurt? But sometimes, I think the answer is, we sometimes wish the days away by wanting to be somewhere else.

Have you ever thought, “When I sleep through the night again, then I’ll…”? Or, “when my daughter is older we can….” Or even, “I can’t wait for this to be over.” I’ll be honest, I’ve had plenty of those thoughts myself. But then, I wondered, what would happen if I took the time to be present where I am? What if I stopped making future plans and setting my eyes there, and looked at what was going on in the here and now? I was surprised to find that the present was beautiful. Difficult and messy at times, but beautiful.

This thinking and introspection, and realizing that life was passing me by really hit me hard. These are precious times. Life is lived in the present. Joy is experienced in the mundane. Extraordinary things can lie in the midst of the ordinary. So, I picked up my camera, and I photographed it.

This simple act allowed me to capture one of my favorite photos of my family to this day of my husband and daughter making cookies together. It’s not taken in a gigantic and perfectly styled kitchen. They’re not wearing anything fancy. I didn’t pose them or give them direction. I just captured what was going on. And it was beautiful. This moment and memory is preserved for all time. For this, I am so grateful.

This brings to me to the point of this post. I want to do the same thing for you! I want to help you see the beauty of the life you have wherever it is, whatever it is. I want you to be able to look at these pictures and remember that place in time and how you felt. I want you to be able to celebrate your family and your life for the everyday experiences you have. I want you to be in these photos! These moments are what sum up our lives. These loud, boring, quiet, insane, messy, joyous, beautiful moments.

So, I thought about what I could do to capture these moments for you and your family. What sort of session would this be. And a Day in the Life was born. A Day in the Life sessions are photojournalistic documentary style sessions where I follow you through a typical day in the life of your family. These sessions are meant to be low key, low stress, lots of fun, and aimed at showing you the magic of the everyday routine of your life. I wanted to show families the legacy they are creating while they are creating it.

In ten, twenty, or thirty years, I want to be able to look back on the pictures of my family and marvel at how things have changed, while being able to remember the way things were. I’d love to do the same for you! Let’s make that happen – click here to learn more!
