Kelly and Rob got married this past weekend! We were delighted to be a part of their wedding, especially because these two care so deeply for one another, their family and friends, and the world around them. It’s hard to find a more selfless couple than these two. Kelly volunteers at a hospice care center, even while attending law school to become a social issues lawyer, and Rob has been studying to become a doctor so he can devote his time and energy to helping people. Besides their professions, they made clear their desires to bless and care for people known by asking a couple favors from us on their wedding day. Kelly made it clear she wanted the focus to be on family and asked Rachel if she would take some time to get some couple’s portraits of her brother and sister-in-law. Their photographer didn’t come through for them at their wedding, and so she wanted to give them the gift of some beautiful photographs of the two of them. We thought that was incredibly sweet. Looking through those glasses, we are happy to share their wedding day with you!
It started off peacefully. When we arrived at Kelly’s parent’s house, we found only her mom, mother-in-law, aunt and flower girl getting their makeup done. Kelly was at a nearby salon getting her hair done with her matron of honor and sister-in-law, Sarah. This left plenty of time to document all the stunning details of Kelly’s wedding day attire. Her simple, yet beautiful wedding dress. The silver cross she would wear around her neck. The handmade veil that her fiancé’s 81 year old grandmother made. All of it was gorgeous and we had plenty of time to capture it all!
When Kelly arrived, she was a little anxious to get moving. After her makeup was done, she ushered her mom and dad to the car so they could get to the church on time. She couldn’t wait to marry Rob and it was perfectly evident in every move she made.
Their ceremony was lovely. Her aunt sang and her childhood priest and friend of the family played piano. While at the altar (as she later told us), she told Rob that Rachel is pregnant. It made us chuckle that while the priest was giving his homily, she was so focused on others that that’s what she talked to Rob about. So sweet.
After the ceremony, we made our way down the street to Abington Art Center where their freshly renovated pavilion was the most picturesque place for that beautiful day’s reception. We enjoyed the sun and warmth and made the most of the grounds for couple’s portraits. Including the portraits of her brother and sister-in-law. Throughout that time, Kelly stayed glued to Rob. She couldn’t keep her eyes off him and often reached up to kiss him suddenly.
One thing they wanted highlighted during their reception was the massive artistic talent that is in Kelly and her family. Since their reception was at an art center, they all brought artwork and displayed it in one of the rooms near the bar. It was such a personal and unique touch to their wedding.
Kelly and Rob, we hope you are having an amazing time on your honeymoon! We enjoyed every second of your wedding, and left feeling more like family than photographers. All the best to you for all the years you have together.
xo, Rachel
