Morris Arboretum Wedding | Alyce Rasmussen & Tim Brandon

From the moment Rachel first spoke with Alyce and Tim, she knew this wedding was going to be something special. The effortless way these two interact, their beautiful garden party vision for their Morris Arboretum wedding, and all the details that were falling into place spelled amazingness.

Getting Ready at the DoubleTree Plymouth Meeting

When we first arrived at Alyce’s hotel, we heard the happy hustle and bustle of cheery ladies getting ready for the big day. Alyce was beaming when she got out her shoes, stunning jewelry, and as her bouquet arrived. All these pretty things were nothing when compared with Alyce herself. A beauty from the inside out, she just couldn’t wait to slip into her dress and see Tim. He had made this little paper airplane for her. It was decorated with all the important dates of their relationship and included little illustrations. That brought out the biggest smile yet.

Meanwhile, just a few floors away, Tim and his guys were having a great time goofing off before the ceremony. Their dapper seersucker suits were such a unique flair to their wedding day. Highlighting the garden party theme and keeping them a little cooler in the hot June sun. After calling an Uber, aka Ann, he was off to Valley Green for his first look with Alyce.

First Look at Valley Green

It was an absolutely beautiful June afternoon at Valley Green park down by the creek, and Tim was waiting for that much anticipated shoulder tap from his bride. With cameras trained on each of these excited and nervous fiancés, Alyce started her approach. As she reached Tim and delicately placed her hand on his shoulder, his face lit even before he turned to see her. And when he did, boom! Smiles like a thousand watt bulb on each of their faces. Their embrace was so tender and each kiss more sweet than the one before. The day that had taken so much planning and effort was here and now they were on the downhill.

We stayed at Valley Green long enough for Rachel to wade into the creek for some unique perspectives… and unique smells. Not sure what is in the bed of the Wissahickon Creek, but it let off some huge bubbles and smelled so weird/gross. But it brought out some great smiles and laughs and is something no one will ever forget. Memories come in all shapes, sizes, and smells we guess.

Then it was off to the Morris Arboretum for more portraits on their gorgeous grounds, especially the Rose Garden. After a few very romantic and cozy moments, we surrendered the lovebirds for their ceremony and party.

The Ceremony + Reception at the Morris Arboretum

The ceremony in the meadow was beautiful, but oh so hot. A point that Tim and Alyce both handled with grace and humor. They spent their ceremony wiping beads of sweat off each other instead of tears. As the sun sank low, the groomsmen fell into the shade, but the poor ladies were beamed on the entire time. But, in just a few short minutes, the newlyweds had shared vows and rings and were excitedly announced husband and wife. When they recessed, they hopped on a “Just Married” golf cart and made their way to the cocktail hour in the treehouse.

Their reception at the Morris Arboretum started with some incredible introductions of the bridal party, including appearances by the Philly Under Dog masks. The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl (41-33) over the New England Patriots in February. This gave way to a great party in the tent and after the best man’s toast wrapped up, the sunset was too pretty to not whisk the newlyweds outside for a few more portraits.

Alyce and Tim, thank you for being your amazing selves, and we hope that you have an amazing first year and every year of marriage!
