We know it isn’t normal for us to post weddings on Wednesday, but today, we’re excited to be sharing a special edition of Friday Loves. You see, we normally save our Friday blogs to send love out to other small business owners that we love to work with, but today, we get to share the wedding of two of our favorite small business owners, Jordan and Pete! If you know these two on their Instagram accounts, you’ve had the chance to watch their adventures as they settle into live as RV adventurers. However, before they set off on their cross-country adventure, we got to co-shoot their Morris Arboretum wedding with our dear friend & photographer Kate McCarthy and the AGP Cinema team led by Kiersten, with our dear friend Sara from Elegance Artistry handling the Hair & Makeup styling!
If you can think of a better equation for a perfect wedding day than working with some of your industry favorites on a beautiful Morris Arboretum wedding, please let me know! Because this day was almost impossible to top!
From their rehearsal the evening beforehand to the moment that the Mister Softee truck was pulling away from their wedding reception, Jordan & Pete’s wedding day was full of the authentic joy of two people who truly are made for each other.
From the beginning of their wedding day, Jordan and Pete made it clear to each other how excited they were to be spending their lives together, hours before they saw each other. Pete had postcards that he’d written throughout their relationship delivered to Jordan’s room on the hour as she was getting ready. Jordan had prepared videos from all of the key players saying how much Pete has impacted their lives and how much they love and respect him. As these two dressed for their first look, the anticipation kept building!
Finally, we all headed over to Morris Arboretum for their first look and portrait session. It was a perfect summer day to explore the grounds at Morris Arboretum, which are worth a visit on any day! Kate & I took Jordan to their favorite cabin in the woods where we captured their first look and started their portrait session. We wandered through fields of lavender and joined up with their wedding party at the rose garden.
Dark clouds were starting to gather as we headed over to the gardens for Jordan & Pete’s wedding ceremony, but nothing could put a damper on their joy. One of the biggest appeals to having a Morris Arboretum wedding was the outdoor ceremony options, so we pushed forward and ignored the impending thunder. As soon as Jordan & Pete began their vows, the heavens opened up and a drenching rain hit. I quickly put one camera under DJ Bob’s tarps (just in case anything happened in the rain) and pushed into the rain to capture some of the most magical ceremony images of the season! Jordan & Pete danced in the rain together and into their life as husband & wife.
Once we all made it to safety and I quickly changed out of my waterlogged dress and shoes, the storms ended and we wandered over to the Fern house for another set of couple’s portraits before heading over to the tented area beside the Morris Arboretum welcome center for Jordan & Pete’s reception. The details & decor were all handmade by Jordan and her wedding party. Their sign in book was a leather bound bible where guests could highlight and share thoughts on meaningful verses. Jordan’s sister made all of their cake pops (and they were delicious)! And Jordan’s mom hired Mister Softee to bring cones of joy to all of the guests (and, yes, to the happy wedding photography team, too)!
A drenched Mr & Mrs Jones entered into their reception and danced their little hearts out to The White Stripes. A prayerful song of joy was lead by Jordan’s family. Toasts that had us laughing and tearing up along with the guests were shared.
I’ve had the chance to work with Jordan & Pete and get to know them not just as a wedding couple but as genuine friends over the past year. I couldn’t have been more grateful to spend their wedding day with them. They are a wonderful example of love and strength in marriage and I am honored to share their images with you.
