We have had the pleasure of Jenni and Kevin’s acquaintance since Katie and Brandon’s wedding in 2017. When they saw their friends pictures, they knew they wanted us to capture their Union Trust wedding, and we were absolutely delighted!
Getting Ready at the Hotel Monaco
When we arrived at the Hotel Monaco for wedding day preparations, we found a white robed Jenni, eagerly awaiting her turn for makeup. She gave us all her stunning details, including her Pronovias wedding dress from Jennifer’s Bridal. Her Badgley Mischka flats were beautiful and practical! The strand of pearls borrowed from her mother were elegant and the perfect pairing to her earrings.
In a wise move, she had waited to get her makeup done until after she’d opened the gift from Kevin and read his card. The tears flowed freely and without consequence. When she’d collected herself and admired his beautiful present to her, she took her seat in the makeup chair and finished the primping.
Once done, she got into her dress with some help with all the buttons. We used the beautiful Monaco Hotel room for all it was worth and got plenty of bridal portraits before heading over to the Second National Bank for their first look!
A couple floors away, Kevin was reading his own note from Jenni. Instead of tears, it was all smiles. His navy blue suit and burgundy tie perfectly picked up their color palette. Again, the Monaco stunned with it’s radiant window light as we captured groom portraits before heading outside.
The First Look and Portraits at the Second National Bank
On the marble stairs he waited for his bride. The longest 30 seconds of any groom’s life, just waiting for the tap on the shoulder. Jenni breezed up the stairs with ease – thanks to those Mischka flats! – and did her best to hold back tears when Kevin turned to her. They stood in amazement at each other, on their wedding day. Then they came back to reality and we shot portraits all over the park.
Bridal party joined us and we quickly photographed the fun loving group before the wind got to be too brisk. Before their Union Trust wedding reception, they had to have their wedding ceremony!
The Wedding Ceremony at Old St. Joseph’s
Old St Joseph’s church is a Philadelphia landmark as it’s the oldest Catholic church in city. This richly historical place has witnessed many weddings, and Jenni and Kevin now stand among them. Their ceremony was a traditional Catholic mass and they made their vows like so many before them in that very place. Then it was off to Union Trust for their kick ass reception.
The Union Trust Wedding Reception
One of the party pieces at Union Trust, besides the incredible food from Finley Caterers, is the way the bride and groom are brought into the wedding reception. They emerge from double doors into a spotlight which tracks them all the way around the mezzanine and down the stairs to the dance floor. Jenni and Kevin brought the flair the entire way down and then went straight to their first dance. Then BVT Live’s Deja Blue brought it! The dance floor was utterly jammed. Everybody was anxious to have a great time celebrating the newlyweds at Union Trust.
After the toasts, Jenni and her dad shared a lovely dance together, as did Kevin and his mom. The cake was wheeled to the floor and they shared a slice together. Then, Deja Blue really got going! Then, in the midst of the music, anthem came up over the speakers. The St Joe’s Hawks fight song. Sweeping down into the reception in a surprise for Jenni and Kevin was the St Joe’s Hawk, in the, er, flesh. All the alumni gathered for a photo with the Hawk before it was time for us to take our leave.
