How our 30 Day Delivery Rule was Born

TL:DR
We will be in contact with you to get you into our studio for your wedding photo reveal within 30 days of your wedding, usually sooner!
I learned this the hard way. . .

Everything was a whirlwind at my own wedding.

In addition to all the usual excitement of entertaining out of town guests, dancing to my heart’s content, and, of course, marrying my one true match (& the only person to this day that still laughs at all my bizarre quirks), I had a miserable case of bronchitis.  Somewhere between the bursts of adrenaline and the antibiotics, I think I forgot more of my wedding day than most people do – and trust me, it happens so fast that it will become a blur.

I absolutely couldn’t wait to see the pictures!  I had blown the budget on a photographer who really made me feel beautiful and confident, so I knew that they would be amazing!

But then a month passed.  And then another. . .

About two months after my wedding, I got the first batch of twenty photos from my wedding day – A series of the family formals we had taken. Inside the email from my photographer she asked if I wanted to order prints of any of them for gifts. It was a week before Christmas. I had already purchased my holiday gifts, so I declined.

Over the next several months, I’d get a handful of photos – a cluster of our details. A handful of our wedding portraits. After about a year, the trickle of photos slowed down and the excuses started to pour out.

I wanted to be compassionate and understanding, but I was frustrated. In order to quiet me, my photographer dumped DVDs of the original RAW files from the day on me. Since I was a photographer, she reasoned, I might like to have everything.

A few more months passed. My husband was starting to talk legal action. I was busy building my own business and working a full-time job, so I didn’t have the chance to look at the RAW files (plus, I’m telling you, it is so overwhelming!)

About two years after I was married, I finally got my DVD of wedding photos (yes, I’m old.) in a case that still had the smiling stock couple’s photo in the picture window.

I had been married so long that I was too embarrassed to share the photos on Facebook for fear that my friends would all think “My God, isn’t she over her wedding yet?!?”

This is how I felt while waiting for my photos to finally show up in my inbox 🙁

For my fifth anniversary, I designed and ordered my own wedding album. I always knew I wanted one and never had the chance to get one from my photographer. To this day, I love my album and page through it regularly. But I shouldn’t have had to do it for myself.

So why so much exposition, Ashley?

Simple. I want you to get your wedding photos while you’re still excited about them, so that you can go to your friends and family after your honeymoon and relive all of the moments while they’re still fresh in your mind.

So, as soon as Ashley Gerrity Photography became my full-time only job, I knew the first improvement I wanted to make in our client experience was improving our photo turnaround.

It’s a point of pride for me to tell couples that we haven’t taken more than 30 days to finish a wedding since 2015. To be able to say that it’s not uncommon for our couples to return home from their honeymoon and be greeted by an invitation to their image reveal.

This year, we reached a new high – We’ve been able to deliver our beautiful custom built handmade wedding albums within 2-3 months of a couple’s wedding. The memories aren’t even fading into the background of their minds before they’re able to hold the printed images in their hands.
