5 Best Philadelphia Engagement Photography Locations

If you’re engaged and live in Philadelphia or the surrounding area, you’re lucky enough to live in a place that has a lot to offer in terms of photo session opportunities. A Philadelphia engagement photography session can have any aesthetic: rustic, urban chic, quirky, elegant, you name it! It all depends on where you get your photos taken.

In a previous post, I listed some of Chester County’s most popular engagement session locations, including Valley Forge, Longwood Gardens, and Columbia Station. This post will be dedicated to a few of the best and most requested engagement photography locations in Philadelphia itself.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art

The PMA is great because Fairmount Park and the Water Works are right next door. We can take some photos on the museum’s steps in order to get some cool architectural shots in, and then head over to the park for some more organic backdrops.

Love Park

Officially called JFK Plaza, Love Park is known by that name because of the iconic LOVE statue overlooking the plaza. What better backdrop for your engagement photos than the fountain, or the candy-red statue that proclaims your reason for getting engaged? It’s a quintessential part of Philadelphia’s iconography. We can quickly snap a few photos on or near the statue before moving to another location, but if you want to shoot a full engagement session in Love Park, you can get a permit to do so here.  Want an even better LOVE statue experience?  Head over to UPenn’s campus and climb all over the mini LOVE statue like Jessica & Josh did in their Philadelphia Engagement Session.

Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens

This location describes itself as “a labyrinth of mosaics and sculptures from around the world”. It offers three mosaicked indoor galleries, as well. They do ask that you contact them in advance in order to schedule a photo shoot there, and should you fall in love with the PMG, the space is available for rent for wedding ceremonies and other events, too!

Old City

There are endless locations to shoot around Old City. So many, in fact, that it’s probably best if you scope out some spots ahead of time. I could probably spend all day just wandering around all the historic homes, going up and down all the cool-looking alleys.

Ben Franklin Bridge

Do panoramic views of the cityscape sound like the perfect backdrop for your engagement session? If so, the Ben Franklin Bridge is probably the perfect Philadelphia engagement photography location for you. It’ll be the ultimate celebration of your love of the city!

Of course, time permitting, you don’t have to commit to just one location! You can mix and match for a Philadelphia engagement photography session that encompasses all that the city has to offer.
