We love our city, and one of the biggest reasons is the stunning architecture and rich history that pervades the entire place. Smack dab in the middle of Center City, right across from City Hall is a stunning Masonic Temple. It has just recently been outfitted by Catering by Design and is now the newest and one of the most gorgeous wedding venues in Philadelphia. We were lucky enough to get invited to their opening night and photograph this incredible space.
Cocktail Hour: The Foyer Under the Stars
After walking up the grand staircase, you find a beautiful room with marble floors. Incredible stained glass windows line the way and when you can force yourself to look at something else, the ceiling will take your breath away. A starry night sky will twinkle down on you and your guests all night. The portraits and statues lend an air of old world to even the most modern wedding.
When we got there, the room was beautifully set up for a cocktail style reception. Long low tables flanked the walls and there were several high tops dotting the marble floor. The decor was warm and golden. A honeycomb votive with twinkle lights and a simple vase with some cheery yellow tulips and daffodils. The buffet table was set up with small style plates, and everything was mouthwateringly beautiful. When guests arrived and mingled, the space had a warmth and class to it that we’d be hard pressed to match elsewhere in the city.
The Reception: The Grand Ballroom
Once cocktail hour is completed, your guests will descend the lovely double staircase and enter the Grand Ballroom. This room is completely amazing. The doors open into a white marble room speckled with gold details. Marble and gold inlaid pillars line each side of the room. Overlooking the entire soiree is the legend himself: Ben Franklin.
There is no limit to the layouts this room can have. You can fully customize the flow to your own unique preferences. A sit down dinner would be lovely and leave lots of room for dancing and a full band. If you wanted a buffet or cocktail style reception, the possibilities are endless.
For the launch event, they had a truly unique feature: a chef’s table. This beautiful handcrafted table was painted with chalkboard paint and had place settings drawn on. At one end, the chef was preparing fresh food for guests to enjoy. Just a small taste of the incredible food options available from Catering by Design.
