As wedding photographers, we get to be there for one of the happiest days of our client’s lives. We don’t take our job for granted, or the joy we get to witness on a regular basis. But, when a previous client adds to their family, our hearts swell another size as we get to capture the next chapter of happiness for these people we care about. So, when Kim and Chris (married in 2016) told us they wanted to book a Lifecycle session to capture maternity and newborn photos, we were overjoyed!
Lifecycle Session: Longwood Gardens Maternity Session
When we were considering locations for the maternity session portion of their Lifecycle session, we were trying to pick ideas for rain or shine. Longwood Gardens is always a good bet for a rain plan. The beautiful conservatory is the perfect backup plan. We were glad for the rain contingency, because it did rain a lot leading up to their session, and we felt secure knowing we had a location to shoot. But, miraculously, the rain cleared out just before their session began, so we had the run of Longwood to ourselves!
One of our favorite things about maternity sessions is that it gives mom a chance to dress up and feel pretty. As many on our team can attest, the end of pregnancy is less about the glow and more about the “ugh, someone get this beach ball out of me”. So any chance to dress up and look nice is life giving. We also prioritize dad in the pictures. We definitely want some of mom alone, in all her glory, but dads can have a harder time feeling involved during these 9 months. So we really give dad a chance to show just how excited he is and how much he loves his wife and growing family.
This is just a small part of why we love our Lifecycle sessions. We get to witness the anticipation and joy of expecting, and we end up counting down the days alongside these dear folks.

In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Session
The second part of our Lifecycle sessions, is an in-home newborn session which we capture in a more natural way. So when Kim and Chris texted us that Liam Henry had arrived, we couldn’t wait to go visit and capture some of his first few days at home.
It’s hard to believe how someone so small can capture so much of our hearts so quickly! Liam definitely had all of us wrapped around his finger. His ginger hair – apropos since mom and dad’s wedding hashtag was #thegingerandthebeard – and his teeny fingers and toes just sent our hearts aflutter. The new family of three enjoyed some time just staring at each other in pure wonder.

It’s an honor to capture these moments in our Lifecycle sessions. We’d love to do the same for you!
