A Brief Interjection – Gratitude

As I sit here writing this, I am enveloped in the incredible aroma of my husband expertly preparing a feast for our Friends-giving tonight and my (almost!) seven month old daughter is napping quietly upstairs, although if she were awake, I’m sure she’d be laughing hysterically as she crawled around from toy to toy. These things are right in front of me and they are massive reasons to be thankful. However, there’s far more I can list and a lot of it has to do with my chosen profession and the many blessings I have within that.

This year, I am grateful for my new role in Ashley Gerrity Photography. As studio manager, I am able to handle a few things for Ashley that allow her to focus her time on her craft as well as managing the business. Her vision for growth is exciting and I can’t believe I get to be a valued member of the team. Ashley is kind and considerate and values my input, which is sadly not the case for many people in the world. So, it is not lost on me that I get to work with someone so great.

We are quite the dynamic duo! And my goodness, could I get any more attractive?

I am grateful for my brides and grooms from this past year. As we have started booking Ashley and myself on the same day, I am so glad that I got to meet and photograph Lacey + Asa, Laura + Sal, Tom + Alicia and Sarah + Leo. I had a great time with all of them and their weddings are not ones I will soon forget. (Stay tuned for their respective blog posts cause there’s some awesome stuff coming along!)

I am also grateful for all the other brides and grooms we had this past year. There were so many incredible weddings where two beautiful people got married. It’s not lost on me how unique my role in their day is, and many of them felt like old friends by the end of our time with them. I am grateful that I got to capture memories that they will treasure for the rest of their days and  honored that I was there to witness them.

Looking forward to 2016, I am so excited for the trajectory of Ashley Gerrity Photography and my ever growing and expanding role in it. We will be away the first week of December at a conference to continue to learn and grow and challenge ourselves to be even better than we are now. I’m looking forward to the opportunity and the time to focus (which can be difficult with a baby around sometimes).

On a personal note, I am extremely grateful for my husband of five years, who loves me unconditionally and supports me in my profession. His graciousness as I have struggled at times with the new juggling act of work, baby and household, keeps my sanity in place and makes me feel so loved. I’m also so very very grateful for my daughter. Her tenacity and strength of spirit make her a bit of a wild child, but she has a heart of pure gold. Her smile melts my heart and her laugh incites my own. She’s been one of life’s greatest joys and I am excited to watch her continue to grow and find out who she will be.
