Diana and Cristian have been dear friends since their initial consult meeting for their wedding over 5 years ago. Since that big day, they’ve moved to a new state and had two adorable little boys, Declan and Miles. We were there to capture Miles’ newborn session, and love every chance we get to see this precious family. So when they opted in for our documentary A Day in the Life sessions, we were thrilled.
It’s not easy to juggle a new move with two toddlers in the heat of the summer, but Diana and Cristian managed the feat with aplomb. So when Rachel rolled up to their new North Potomac home, life was settling in to their new routine.
It was breakfast time. Cristian was still in the little guest room with the boys, playing and being silly. Diana was starting to get coffee going and breakfast for the clan. Declan brought his plastic dinosaur and tiger and was eagerly telling Rachel all about them. Miles was playing shy, but it was evident that he was a ham just waiting for his moment to shine.
The true beauty of these A Day in the Life sessions is that they allow life’s magic moments to play out, and capture them in a true yet beautiful way. Breakfast doesn’t seem like it should be all that glamorous, but the smiles and the genuine connection and emotions are wonderful.
Once breakfast was wrapped, we made our way outside. The boys love exploring their new backyard and there was a pool to be splashed in. Dad even broke out the water table and Declan quickly began making leaf ice cream to share with everyone. Despite a brief bout of tug of war with the hose when someone didn’t want to give it up, all the adults made it through relatively dry. But hey, it’s just A Day in the Life.
Time flies so quickly during these sessions, soon it was time to say goodbye. We hope to continue to capture this family’s precious moments together, whether in A Day in the Life session, or some other capacity.
