Kathy and Jack’s love story is sure to make you smile. We asked Kathy to write down the story of how they met and how Jack proposed. Our faces beamed as we read it, and when we photographed their wedding this past October, we were honored to be part of the next chapter of their lives together.
“We were introduced by a mutual friend, who Jack went to college with. One night one of my and my friend Jenna’s favorite bands was playing at a little bar in Morristown, NJ so they decided to go. Jack was at the same bar that night, but with another girl. Jack and I did not exchange many words that night. He quickly left that night and the first thing he did was sent a text to Jenna (the mutual friend I was with) and told her to bring that girl (me) out again. After their first date at a cute Italian restaurant in Morristown, Jack called his mom and said “Mom, I think I found THE girl”. The rest is history. Basically a girl walked into a bar…and two people’s lives changed forever.
Jack proposed at his parents amazing backyard (which I LOVE) in rural Hunterdon County, NJ. We were sitting on a swing (the same swing Jack asked me to be his official girlfriend 4 years ago) when a big hay wagon drove down the neighbor’s driveway behind the house. It was decorated with the words “will you marry me” on a huge burlap banner, and as soon as I saw that sign Jack dropped to one knee. The hay wagon was filled with all of our friends and family and after I said “YES”, we all partied the night away. There were even fireworks later that night; a perfect ending to the most magical and romantic night. It was the most romantic and thoughtful proposal, everything I’d ever dreamed of. Jack put so much time, thought, and effort into making it the best.”
We returned to that backyard that Kathy loves for their summer engagement session and even wandered through the beautiful little town that Jack called home for many years. Between Kathy’s impeccable fashion sense, which she exercised on Jack as well, and how beautiful their love is, it was a magical session.
