I love it when my Philadelphia wedding photography clients share their style with me. Everyone’s is a little different, and discovering yours is what the Philadelphia wedding photography industry is all about! Your style will dictate everything from how you have your makeup done to what gown and accessories you choose. For instance, if your taste is modern, yet timeless, and you like your outfits impeccably tailored and smartly accessorized, you might just be a J.Crew bride!
It’s my personal opinion that J.Crew’s wedding shop is highly underrated. It won’t stay that way for long! They can outfit every member of the wedding party from the bride to the ringbearer, making it a one-stop wedding shop. Ordering online is a cinch, with their 60-day return policy. If you’d like to try before you buy, they also have a handful of stores with a selection of gowns and bridesmaids’ dresses. As it happens, there’s one right in the King of Prussia mall!
Here are a few highlights from J.Crew’s bridal store:
The Carson gown is made from silk dupioni, which you can learn more about on the handy color and fabric guide. It photographs particularly well due to its texture, a result of silk fibers on the surface of the fabric. The dress is simple with the slightly architectural detail of a side peplum. To see it in action, check out this Seattle couple’s real wedding from March 9th, 2014!
Few things are as subtly sexy as an open back. The Jillian gown combines that with an Old Hollywood-esque silhouette for a dramatic, classy look. It’s minimalist enough that you can channel Elizabeth Taylor and go big on the jewelry, if you want. J.Crew has a great collection of bridal accessories. Their everyday line of jewelry is also fairly extensive. They specialize in pearls, but I’m also a fan of the Lulu Frost collection for its art deco vibe.
The Eva gown is another take on a minimalist wedding dress. It has a mermaid silhouette with an interior corset, making it ultra figure-flattering. The one dramatic touch is the overlapping, draped skirt. This is another dress that you can accessorize any way you want–simply or dramatically.
I always get a secret little thrill when I see a bride in lace. It’s just so ladylike and pretty! Especially for a winter wedding–your dress can make you look like a beautiful, life-size snowflake! I love J.Crew’s Sara lace gown for its scalloped hem, long lacy train, and crossover neckline. It’s also got a fit-and-flare silhouette that is stunning on just about anyone!
