The Knot is one of the best-known wedding resources. If you know how, you can use it to plan your entire wedding! They’ve got all kinds of amazing tools for creating everything from wedding registries to guest lists. The Knot also has a great local vendor search function. If you’re looking for a Philadelphia wedding photographer, here’s a guide to using The Knot to find the perfect one:
Search Local Vendors
The Local Vendors tool is incredibly easy to use. You can search by location, or enter your zip code or city and find vendors near you. Use the drop-down menu to select the type of vendor you need.
Pennsylvania vendors are broken down by region. Pittsburgh/Southwest PA, Central Pennyslvania, Lehigh Valley/Poconos, and Philadelphia all have separate photographer listings. I primarily serve the Philadelphia area, but I’m more than willing to travel! Keep in mind while searching that you’re not limited to the vendors within a specific area. They might be willing to come to you!
Other Search Parameters
The vendor search tool also allows you to search by price, style, and specialty. For example, if you want a photographer who also does boudoir photography, you can find one by searching styles. If you want a Philadelphia wedding photographer who can transition between photography styles, you’ll want to select “a variety/blend of styles” when searching.
Look At Portfolios
Every photographer on The Knot has a portfolio of a few dozen photos. Looking through a photographer’s work is the first step in deciding if they’ll be the right fit! Just keep in mind, the photos on The Knot will be the crème de la crème. For an idea of how a photographer shoots a wedding from start to finish, you’ll need to contact them. In the interview stage, simply ask if you can see a competed wedding album.
The Knot also has a built-in contact form. All you need to know is your date, your number of guests, and your budget. There’s also a space for you to ask for any other information you might need. I’ll always respond to an inquiry within 24 hours–that is, unless I’m shooting a wedding! If it’s a busy weekend, it might take up to 48.
Read Reviews
Reviews might be the single most important aspect of The Knot’s vendor pages. Don’t just scroll through to see the number of stars. Read all of them carefully! They’ll tell you all about each bride’s experience. This will help you evaluate a photographer to see if they’re your best fit. Finding your Philadelphia wedding photographer isn’t about finding the most talented photographer. It’s about whether or not you work well together!
