I keep seeing new years resolutions and 2014 in review posts in my Facebook feed. I can’t help but feel a little bit left out of the mix. I’m starting my fourth year as a small business owner and Wedding Photographer in Philadelphia & the Main Line. For me, preparing for the year goes much further than just scribbling out a quick resolution. I’ve spent the past month writing business plans for 2015, up to my eyeballs in budgets, and exploring new adventures for Ashley Gerrity Photography.
One thing that I will make happen this year is to build a deeper connection, personally, through this site. I know that many of you have skimmed through the wedding tips section and enjoyed what I’ve been able to share. Or you may have wandered through my real weddings posts (and wondered why I am so out of date-ugh!). But I think it’s time to get a little bit uncovered here.
So, I am excited to present Fridays with the Photographer. It’s a new bi-weekly web series that I will be updating here regularly. Sometimes, there will be informative little nuggets of content, but I’m not hiding behind a facade–you’ll get to hear my real thoughts on the topics, too. I know I’m not naturally sharing, so I’ll have to dig deep for these.
I’m going to tell you all about my wedding album (yup, the one that I still don’t have after four years of marriage). We’ll dig into the boring business stuff that your photographer had been have in line before you sign that contract (insurance, business licenses, what?). I’ll probably tell you a little bit about how nervous I am in front of the camera. I’m going to overcome my nerves this spring in my “Ashley needs a new headshot” series. There will definitely be a bi-annual post about my dogs squished in there for good measure (maybe with some fun tips for pet photography). And yes, you will see some of my ridiculous behind the scenes photos in the mix, too!
So, while you may not have been reading all about incorporating the Pantone color of the year into your scheme, it’s possible that some of these little posts will give you something entertaining to read while you wait in line at the grocery store or are at home brushing your teeth.
