BHLDN is a great bridal boutique for lovers of the Anthropologie aesthetic—boho-chic, vintage, a little offbeat but sleek and elegant. I’ve found that my Philadelphia wedding photography clients are usually looking for something more unique and sophisticated, which is what this relatively new line is all about.
I especially love the options they provide for brides who don’t want a Disney princess ballgown. Not that there’s anything wrong with that! I just love that someone’s designing for all my chic brides out there who want a short dress, or something that’s not necessarily white. The Rafaela dress, with its hand stitched silk flowers and buttoned-up back, is adorable! It’s a perfect reception dress for the bride who wants to dance the night away.
BHLDN also partnered with Badgley Mischka earlier this year, which produced some beautiful gowns and accessories. My personal favorite is the Odessa gown. It has a figure-skimming silhouette and an open back with crepe and lace. How could anyone wear this gown and not have every jaw drop in the room–It’s so amazingly sultry!
One of the best things about BHLDN, in my opinion, are the accessories. I challenge any bride to visit their site and not find at least five things she has to have. Veils, headpieces, gloves, shoes… and don’t get me started on the jewelry. The Arabella necklace was inspired by a Harry Winston piece and is both sophisticated and edgy.
Another one of my favorite things about BHLDN is their B Inspired page. It’s a great place for inspiration, including designer features, galleries, decorating tips, and how-tos. One of their most recent features showcases a few winter wedding collections that highlight some trends of the season: Crystalline, Refined Rustic, and Jewel Tones.
Best of all, BHLDN will put you in contact with a stylist, either by phone or via e-mail, who can help you make selections or just provide a second opinion. It’s an ingenious feature for them to have, considering the only unfortunate thing about them is their lack of brick and mortar stores.
There only have three worldwide—they’re located in Beverly Hills, Chicago, and Houston. Although most of their business is online, that bridal boutique experience when you try on wedding gowns is just a plane ride away.
