Sharing Your Philadelphia Wedding Photography on Facebook

A while back, I did a post on unplugged weddings on my Philadelphia wedding photography blog. I thought they were good idea then, and I still do!

However, I recognize that unplugged isn’t for everyone. Guests love to use social media to share their wedding experiences. According to a 2013 study, the average guest shares 22 photos on social media. It seems that unplugged weddings, while popular, are in the minority. Only 33% of survey respondents said they’d been asked not to use mobile devices at weddings. Still, it’s common courtesy not to share guest-snapped wedding photos on social media without the couple’s permission, agree 65% of respondents.

Whether or not you’re counting on guests to share their pics, you should post your professional Philadelphia wedding photography on Facebook for all to see! Here are a few tips for getting started:

Cover Photos

Is there a photo of your day that you think sums it up perfectly? Use it as a cover photo! I absolutely love this relatively new Facebook feature. It really sets the tone for the person that you are, and announces what you care about.

The trick with cover photos is to pick one that the image crop function won’t completely ruin. If you’ve got your heart set on one in particular, but it doesn’t look quite right, let me know! I can fix it up for you and even add some custom text, if you like.

Wedding Slideshow

I always take some time to put a selection of photos from each wedding into an animated slideshow. Animoto is my go-to service for this. I’ll share my creation with you, but you can also make your own! You can pick a romantic or inspirational song to play as your slideshow moves along. There are lots of other ways to customize it, from adding text to selecting a themed video style. You can subscribe to the service and create a 10- or even 20-minute slideshow. Creating a free account allows you to make as many 30-second slideshows as your heart desires.

Professionally-Curated Photo Selection

Your online photo gallery will have thousands of shots in it. You don’t want to overwhelm your guests (or yourself) by uploading them all! I always recommend selecting a couple of choice moments to put into an album that you share with your guests. I always upload my own selection of photos from my weddings to Facebook, as well. Feel free to tag yourself in them if you don’t want to go through the trouble of uploading them on your own!
