We don’t often sneak engagement sessions in on days we have weddings, but for Maggie and Hunter’s Spring at Longwood engagement session, time was of the essence. The spring blooms were about to fade away, and we desperately wanted all that color for their engagement session. So we met right when the doors opened and captured the beauty.
Maggie and Hunter are peas in a pod. It became so apparent as we stood in line talking that they know each other so well and are such dear friends as well as madly in love with one another. At times we were curious how the blooms of Spring at Longwood would stack up to them. They shone so bright together.
One thing we often say during engagement sessions is that the more you interact with each other, the better off you’ll be. It’s tricky to shoot sessions where the couple immediately turns back to us to look for “what’s next”. It’s so much better when our couples make us interrupt them to switch things up. That’s precisely what Maggie and Hunter did for their Spring at Longwood session. This allowed them to have genuine laughs, sweet embraces, and lots of fun throughout their engagement pictures.
Hunter’s favorite flowers are tulips and those beauties were in full force for us. All the myriads of colors and textures were a delight and gave no shortage of beautiful background for our pictures. We found snapdragons and used them to create some fun contrast in depth of field. For our final shots of this Spring at Longwood session, we sat in the grass by the cheery red tulips. When Rachel got up, something poked her middle finger right at the end of her nail into the skin. It was so bizarre, we still aren’t sure if it was flora or fauna that did it. Thankfully the throbbing pain subsided quickly and didn’t swell. But it’s always an adventure doing what we do, that’s for sure.
In the meantime, we are so excited to see Maggie and Hunter again for their wedding day!
