Philadelphia wedding photography should cover the just-before and just-after stages of the bride getting dressed. I make a point not to feature your underwear in wedding photos. That is, of course, unless it’s requested! That doesn’t mean that your lingerie isn’t important, though. You want to look the best you’ve ever looked in your wedding dress, and some designs present some unique challenges.
Here are a few examples of the most difficult types of dresses to find undergarments for. I also made suggestions:
Fit-And-Flare
Fit-and-flare gowns include dresses with mermaid or trumpet silhouettes. They’re great for showing off your curves. The problem is, sometimes they show off everything else, too! This is why Shapewear was invented. Find high-waisted shaping underwear, like the Skinnygirl Shapewear Seamless Thong. If you’re sensitive about your rear end, too, find something that ends in shorts or just above the knee. Spanx is the first name in shapewear. Their high-waisted shaper is awesome!
Backless Sheath
A backless dress is as challenging as it is stunning. An adhesive bra is the answer! It sticks to you like glue all night long, offering invisible support. A sheath dress made of chiffon or organza will leave very little to the imagination unless you go for seamless underwear. For a little extra coverage, consider getting a tailored half slip to go on under your gown. Commando makes a compression slip that has invisible edges. It’s perfect for a slinky dress!
Strapless Ball Gown
Strapless bras are notorious for slipping and sliding. Find one with grips on the inside, or go all-out and invest in a corset! It’ll cinch your waist and support some truly spectacular cleavage. You can pretty much wear whatever you want on the bottom, since your skirt will flare out. For some extra Cinderella-esque drama, add a petticoat.
Halter A-Line
Halters and other deep V necklines require a bra that plunges. It’s hard to find one that’s low enough that also provides support! A bodysuit, like this one from Dr. Rey, will keep everything in place. An A-line skirt will hide your hips, so you have a bit of freedom there. You could put on something comfortable, or wear a garter belt and stockings for a sexy wedding night surprise.
What kind of dress will you be wearing for the big day? What are you going to wear under it? Tell me what you’re thinking in the comments!
