I’ve talked a lot about Philadelphia engagement photography, including why I include an engagement session in all my packages, and how to prepare for your engagement session.
However, I have yet to discuss practical uses for your engagement photos. After all, that’s the real reason you’ll have them taken! In honor of Valentine’s Day, I’d like to offer 14 ways for you to use your engagement photos:
1. Save The Dates
This is one of the most common uses for engagement photos. Many couples choose to hold a sign that says “save the date”, but it’s not required.
2. Guest Book
You can have guests sign and scrawl messages on a print with a wide border, a book with one of your engagement photos on the cover, or a collage of images.
3. Programs
Your guests will need something to guide them the ceremony, especially if they don’t necessarily know all of the players. Your wedding program will be enhanced by a romantic photo of the two of you.
4. Thank Yous
Many couples use a wedding photo in their thank yous, but if you want to send them promptly after the wedding, you can use an engagement photo instead.
5. Custom Postage Stamps
You can have custom postage stamps made at Zazzle, for use on your save the dates, invitations, thank yous, or everyday mail.
6. Welcome Packets
Your out-of-town guests will appreciate a welcome packet on arrival to their hotels. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just travel tips, details about the area, and maybe a fun personal touch.
7. Table Numbers
You can take engagement photos of you holding various numbers and place them on tables to help guests find their seats.
8. Gifts
Framed engagement photos make wonderful gifts for family members.
9. Christmas Cards
Take care of your engagement photos and your Christmas cards for this year in one shot!
10. Wall Prints
You’ll have few other opportunities to get portraits taken of you, so use your engagement session to get canvas, acrylic, or even metal prints.
11. Invitation Slideshow
In addition to your wedding invitations, you can send your guests an invitation slideshow that includes your engagement photos. That way, everyone gets to enjoy them!
12. Coffee Table Books
The album is another important aspect of all my packages. If you like, I’ll make you an album of your engagement photos, too.
13. Wedding Website
Your wedding web site, whether you create it through The Knot or another service, should have some photos of the two of you to add visual interest. What better use for your engagement photos?
14. Facebook Timeline Photo
These are one of my favorite new Facebook features–they’re a great way to showcase your engagement photos without reducing them to a tiny thumbnail!
