It was a gorgeous day in Philadelphia for Betsy and Matt’s sweet Philadelphia Cricket Club wedding. From the moment we first talked with these two lovely humans, we knew that they shared a special love. A love we can best describe as gentle and easy. And that is how their wedding day played out – gentle and easy.
Getting Ready at the Marriott DoubleTree
When we arrived at the hotel where Betsy was getting ready for her Philadelphia Cricket Club wedding, we were struck by just how serene a scene it was. The girls were finishing up their hair and makeup in the cleanest room we’ve walked into in a long time. Betsy smiled her million dollar grin when we got started, saying that it was finally feeling real. A creature of habit, she was excited to finally marry Matt. Then eat a whole pizza and get to bed at 10pm. Sounds like an amazing day.
When it was time to get dressed, Betsy and her mom and sister Meggie, all got together to help her slip into her stunning dress. They’d taken much of the crinoline out of the skirt and it was the right choice! We loved the lace and shimmer of the gown. It fit her so well. Just like that, full blown bride.
We didn’t want to keep her from her groom or pizza any longer, so we made our way to the church.

Meanwhile, Matt and the guys had a very relaxed morning getting ready for their Philadelphia Cricket Club wedding. His details were on point! His cufflinks tied into the ladies blue gowns, and his groomsmen were all having a great time. When he walked out to the top of the aisle, he was all smiles. With good reason. Betsy was on her way.

The Ceremony
In a traditional Catholic ceremony, Matt and Betsy were wed. They exchanged their vows and rings. A tradition which never gets old for us. Those sacred promises of forever love and the beautiful symbols of their commitment finally getting to be worn for the first time, followed by a first kiss as husband and wife, these moments are not lost on us. Then it was time to head out to capture some Philadelphia Cricket Club wedding portraits and a great party!

The Philadelphia Cricket Club Wedding Reception
The weather was beginning to cool from the heat of the day when we arrived at the Philadelphia Cricket Club wedding reception for Betsy and Matt. The course had a little patch of trees and we used their shade to keep our wedding party cool and evenly lit while we captured portraits from this happy day.
A trend we’ve noticed for wedding receptions is having only the newlyweds announced into the reception. While we love epic introductions, there’s something really wonderful about only the couple being introduced. It really drives home the joy of the moment everyone came together to celebrate: Betsy and Matt becoming husband and wife. The Philadelphia Cricket Club was dressed to the nines. The band kicked up, and the party was on.

Betsy and Matt, congratulations to you both!
