Autumn Flowers • Wedding Trends

It’s that time of year again, the days are shortening, the mornings are crisper, the trees rustle with pleasant breezes that bring a light drizzle of leaves down in an array of rich colors, and wedding themes shift from summer to autumn. We say goodbye to bright, sunny and loose flower arrangements and say hello to deep, rich hues that have been sculpted to perfection. Autumn florals are stunning and we are bringing you some of the hottest trends in wedding flowers this year.

First and foremost, you have such a beautiful and saturated color palette to work with in the autumn. Deep crimsons, burnt oranges, winey burgundy and rich plums are the classics, but if you want to mix it up, aubergine, forest greens and copper are really eye catching and add a depth to any arrangement.  Roses are more readily available, but if you have the opportunity to incorporate dahlias, they provide texture as well as vivid color. Which leads to our second trend; textures.

It’s ok to include a variety of textures. Silky soft rose petals with cotton or the velvet of coxcomb or calla lilies in crimson or eggplant paired with wooly lambs ear, with pops of berries would provide a wealth of texture without going overboard. Even pomegranates can be a unique addition to your bridal bouquet. These blooms are also easily sculpted into well manicured domes with little flourishes here and there. Loose bunches of different flowers are great for the spring and summer, giving the bouquet a vibe of fresh picked from the meadow. Autumn is more structured, more purposeful. Autumn bouquets should reflect that.View More: http://ashleygerrityphotography.pass.us/marvelweddingKristen&Matt098

Finally, centerpieces. Clean cut won’t cut it. Mismatched metallics, unique vintage bottles (the more opaque the better), or wooden containers are the big draw this season. Lightly tarnished silver or pewter urns give guests a beautiful vessel for beautiful florals. Vintage bottles can add elements of height and width to a table arrangement while still allowing guests the ability to converse around a table. Burnished copper is a stunning and eye catching option for displaying your very well thought out and put together arrangements.

All told, this season offers so many gorgeous hues, textures and opportunities to think outside the box. As we enter the season of pumpkin everything, hot cocoa and mulled cider, turning leaves and sweater weather, we look forward to seeing what our brides incorporate into their nuptial festivities.
