Now that we are deep in the throes of autumn, where all the leaves have started turning and the mornings are delightfully crisp and anything that can be pumpkin flavored is pumpkin flavored, we will show you one of our favorite Philadelphia suburban locations to photograph: the Mansion at Ridley Creek where Carolyn and Dan held their October wedding. We’ve been there before for their engagement shoot and also for Lisa and Joe’s wedding the previous spring.
This gorgeous mansion – Hunting Hill Mansion – was constructed by a wealthy horse breeder in 1918 and stands among hundreds of acres of farmland and trees, boasting a beautiful formal garden with lovely stone walls. This property is stunning in every season. It is timeless and elegant. It is also incredibly versatile. No two weddings look the same there.
Carolyn and Dan enjoyed a beautiful fall day for their wedding in mid October. Pleasant enough for bare shoulders but cool enough that there was no mistaking the season. All the leaves were on fire and the opportunities for portraits were seemingly endless. We roamed the grounds, stopping here and there when the light and scenery was just right. Carolyn and Dan fell into each other so naturally and their portraits reflect their very natural and assured love.
The stairs leading into the formal garden are a wonderful spot for bridal party portraits.
The rugged stonework contrasted so perfectly with Carolyn and Dan’s wedding day attire, we had to photograph them there.
The yellow leaves and the mottled sunlight was lovely.
These two are just wonderful together, very free and loving with each other.
Dan and Carolyn have a natural and easy going love – they just fit together perfectly.
