Center City Wedding Photography Trends: Family Photo Tables

Center City Wedding Photography | Family Photos

Lots of the weddings I work at as a Center City wedding photography professional have a photo display of some sort. This trend has really taken off, and couples continue to find ways to put their own spin on it!

If you’re thinking of having a photo display at your wedding, here are a few ideas for making it your own:

Wedding Photos

Wedding photos from every generation of your family make an impressive reception display. I recommend having original photos copied and framing the copy. That way, the original stays safe, and you can have the copy edited for better color contrast if necessary. I’d also recommend printing up description cards for each photo, perhaps with a little anecdote about how each couple met and when they were married. Talk to your lighting professional about using specialized lighting to draw attention to the photo display.

Pictures of the Dearly Departed

Weddings can certainly be bittersweet when you or your spouse-to-be has lost someone important. Photos are one way you can have them there with you! Have a charm made from a photo and wear it as a necklace, or attach it to your bouquet. You could also place a framed photo of your loved one on a chair during your wedding ceremony. You could also create a table display of photos of all those you wish could be there to celebrate your wedding day with you.

Frames

You can display the photos any way you like, but the most popular is a simple table with framed photos. It’s a good idea to have the photos printed in various sizes to create visual interest. Larger photos should be ones you want to highlight, like one of your engagement photos.

The style of frames you choose can reflect your wedding theme. An elegant, sophisticated wedding calls for matching silver frames, while an eclectic collection of coordinating vintage frames could work for a rustic or boho-chic wedding.

Decorations

Don’t be afraid to spruce up your photo display in any way you want to! It can be as simple as adding a few votive candles and flowers to the display table, or you can do something more elaborate. Instead of a table, you can hang your photos from a small tree. Call it your “family tree”! You could also clip them onto a clothesline, hang them on a “memory wall”, or tack them onto a vintage door. Find something that is unique and special, just like your wedding will be!
