Cute Getting Ready Outfits for You & Your Bridesmaids

I’ve provided getting ready tips on my Philadelphia wedding photographer blog before–remember this post? That was almost a year ago, so I thought I should add some more tips to the “getting ready” category. If you’re a Pinterest user, chances are you’ve noticed lots of brides and bridesmaids wearing matching getting-ready outfits. Here are a few ideas!

Robes

Robes make amazing bridesmaid gifts! Matching ones will make everyone feel pretty, especially if you opt for shorter, silk robes. Terrycloth is a great snuggly fabric for a chilly wedding day, in late fall, winter, or early spring.

You can also choose to give each bridesmaid a gift to fit each of their personalities! Find robes in the same style and cut in different colors–your bridesmaids’ favorites–or buy floral robes with varying patterns. Whatever your decision, most brides decide to go with a white robe for themselves, although there’s no rule saying you have to.

Oversized Button-Downs

These are more versatile than you might thing. Crisp white shirts work for preppy weddings, and chambray is perfect for a rustic or country-chic affair. You could also dress your bridesmaids in matching plaid button-downs (or non-matching ones)! Yours could be white, or a plaid with more white incorporated into it.

Custom Sweats

Sweatpants and hoodies can be printed with whatever you want. They give off more of a locker room vibe, which you can lean into by throwing in T-shirts with numbers and your bridesmaids’ names printed on the back. If you’re not much of a sports person, have your bridesmaids’ names printed in block lettering down one leg of their sweatpants or, for a cheekier look, across the rump.

Pajama Sets

Matching pajama sets aren’t just for Christmas morning! You and your bridesmaids can wear pajama sets to bed the night before your wedding, or you can ask everyone to wear their matching PJs that morning. A simple tank top looks good with just about any pattern, if you don’t want to go with tops as well as pants. You can get custom-printed tops from Etsy, with all kinds of adorable sayings! For the bride, I love this flowy racerback printed with “Mrs.” and a heart.

Embroidery

Any bridal party getting-ready ensemble can be embroidered. All you have to decide is what you want them to say! Monograms are perfect if you intend to use your bridesmaids’ outfits as gifts, too. If you’re going for a team feeling, you can embroider “bridesmaid”, “bridal entourage”, or “team bride” on their backs. Yours can just say “bride”! You can also embroider your robe, button-down, sweats, or pajamas with “Mrs. X” or just “Mrs.”

What will you and your bridesmaids wear while you’re getting ready? Tell me your thoughts in the comments!
