Nicole and Phil’s beautiful intimate backyard wedding in Maryland was an intimate affair consisting of their parents, 1 sibling each, and the three folks there to facilitate their day: the priest, the church a/v guy, and Ashley. Their original plans had gone out the window because of Covid, so they moved the date up and made everything official two months ahead of time.
Their Intimate Backyard Wedding
Just because it was an intimate affair, doesn’t mean that they didn’t still want everything captured. As Nicole was putting final makeup touches on, we were able to capture her details – and they were stunning! – before the final zip up into her dress. Same thing for Phil. He was so excited to wear his floral inspired shirt, and it definitely popped with his navy suit jacket. Nicole’s three piece dress was wonderfully unique, and once everything was affixed, it was time to head to church.
Their church ceremony was short and sweet, and broadcast all over the country. They had out of state family watching from as far away as Alaska! When they were officially husband and wife, the church’s a/v technician told Nicole that they had over 170 devices logged into their livestream. More than her original head count! She was so happy that she welled up.
Then it was back to the house for their little reception. Again, just because it was an intimate backyard wedding didn’t mean that they weren’t going to share their first dance. They performed a semi-choreographed dance to Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” on their front porch so the neighbors could see. Some of them came outside and cheered them on.
For their portraits, we wandered around the little lake that their community surrounds and found some beautiful places. Nicole and Phil had even borrowed one of their neighbors canoes and paddled out a bit. It was so romantic – like something straight out of a classic novel.
Their adventurous side came out towards the end when they played around on a slack line for a few minutes. It was pretty epic. Phil and Nicole’s wedding is proof positive that you can still have an amazing time and great wedding even with very few in attendance.
