The day could not have been more perfect. The sun was shining, the humidity was low, and the lake was glittering like a thousand diamonds. Jaime was happily getting ready at her parents home near the water. While we were heading back up to her family’s deck from a few bridal photos near the lake, Jaime’s heel caught between the slats of the deck and she fell. It was one of those moments when Ashley’s theatre degree came in handy, as she was able to sew the hook and eye back into Jaime’s dress while we all laughed about the near miss! She opened her bridal gift from Lain, a gorgeous pearl necklace and a wonderful card address to his “beautiful bride.” She was a truly beautiful bride and we were so happy to photograph her! We dove into the festivities, capturing all the laughs, details and the general hubbub of the morning. It was fantastic fun and time simply flew by.
Meanwhile, Lain and his guys were having a good time themselves. After getting into their tuxes, Lain opened his groom gift from his bride to be. Inside the small box, he found a Derek Jeter signed baseball. Pretty awesome, right? Once that was securely tucked away with the rest of his stuff, we journeyed down to the docks. After being greeted by a very excited and very very wet dog, we scratched Dock B and went to Dock C, only a few hundred yards from where Jaime was getting ready. The guys commandeered a boat for a bit and enjoyed a few minutes of relaxation before heading to the ceremony.
The ceremony was joyous and full of love. The brand new Mr and Mrs left the church smiling and holding each other’s hands tight and with tons of bubbles being blown in their face.
Cue craziness. On the way from the ceremony to the reception, on rural route 183 in Reading, there was a small dog playing chicken with some very speedy automobiles. Ashley couldn’t just leave this poor pup out in the highway to meet a gruesome end, so she whipped her car back around and picked him up. Well, no good deed goes unpunished. About five minutes down the road continuing to the reception, her tire went flat. The spare kit was not in the correct place, and so changing the tire was out of the question. The parents of the bride came to the rescue. So, Ashley left her car, the dog (secure and well watered) and hitched a ride to the reception. Her parents came down from Hershey and got the tire changed after a few more snafus like forgotten keys and a set off car alarm. The story ends very happily though, the dog has since been reunited with his dogmom and Jaime and Lain’s wedding didn’t miss a beat.
Jaime and Lain, we hope you are having a fabulous honeymoon and that you know that we thoroughly enjoyed your wedding. We won’t soon forget your day for so many reasons!
xo, Ashley + Rachel
