It all started with a dissertation. Kelly had finished all her classes and was well into the writing of her dissertation when a handsome professor gave her some help. She knew he was the one before they even began dating. Glenn felt similarly. This was meant to be.

Somewhere in the middle ground between “opposites attract and soulmates” (according to Glenn) is where these two lovers find their footing. It’s something that can’t be explained other than a deeply rooted feeling and knowledge that this person is the one you want to spend the rest of your life with.

Which is how we found ourselves at the Loews Hotel a couple Saturdays ago. On one of the hottest wedding days of the season so far. Kelly and her bridesmaids were getting ready in one of the hotel’s lovely suites, and it was so calm and peaceful. We don’t know that we’ve ever been in a room so relaxed. Kelly was the picture of grace and poise as her hair and makeup were finished. Everything was perfect. The dress, the shoes, the jewels and even the fragrance. It wasn’t long before the dress was on, the veil was in, and Kelly was sliding into her bejeweled Badgley Mischka heels.

Meanwhile, Glenn was just a few floors up getting his suit on and enjoying the final moments of bachelordom with his groomsmen. He couldn’t stop smiling all day. The joy he felt and the excitement of marrying his 10 years long love was building to a crescendo. That crescendo came during their first look.

There’s a staircase at the Loew’s where the wall is a beautiful reflective granite and it gives everything this extra luster, it was the perfect place for the lovers to meet. As Kelly descended the steps, Glenn grinned fiendishly. When he turned to greet her, we saw them both totally relax. They’d made it.

Their ceremony at the Ballroom at the Ben was elegant and completely perfect. At long last they were Dr and Dr (since they both have their PhDs). The rest of the night was a swirl of celebration. Everyone had a fantastic time and danced the night away.
