Megan and Ted’s August rooftop wedding at the Free Library of Philadelphia was a truly elegant and celebratory event! The couple chose a stunning Free Library wedding their big day for both its views and their love of literature – it was the perfect choice for them.
Wedding Prep at the The Logan Hotel
The day began with Megan and her bridesmaids & Ted and the guys getting ready at The Logan, a luxurious hotel located just across Logan Circle from the Free Library. The four bridesmaids started the day in silky blue robes and posed for playful photos with Megan before getting dressed in beautiful periwinkle dresses. Then it was time for Megan to put on her dress! She wore a stunning off the shoulder white gown from Essence of Australia with a train that flowed elegantly behind her.
Despite a low-key getting ready time with the guys, we were able to see Ted’s quirky personality popping through with his cocktail socks and custom floral-lined suit jacket. Once the guys had pulled themselves together into light grey suits, they got cozy on the couch playing video games, reading comics, and behaving rather boyishly.
Before heading to the Free Library, Megan and Ted saw each other for the first time on the back lawn of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, one of our favorite photo spots in the city. After taking a few moments for portraits with the Museum behind us, we joined their wedding party in the Azalea Gardens to capture their wedding party portraits. From the Museum, Megan & Ted wandered up the parkway, posing with two of the city’s other notable art museums, the Rodin Museum and the Barnes, before finishing our outdoor portraits in front the Free Library of Philadelphia’s impressive gated front doors.
Portraits in the Stacks Before Their Free Library of Philadelphia Wedding Ceremony
Next, the couple headed back to the Free Library for some more pictures in the stacks. The stacks are always such a unique place for couples photos and we loved playing with reflections in Philbrick Hall and shooting through the books in the second floor reading rooms. We wrapped up our portrait session on the rooftop as their guests amassed in the beautiful first floor atrium for their ceremony.
There are not many grander places to have a wedding ceremony than the foyer of the Parkway Central branch of the Free Library! When Megan walked down the beautiful central staircase into the atrium of the library, with its soaring ceilings and beautiful natural light, everyone held their breath. The couple exchanged vows in front of their closest friends and family, and the love in the room was palpable.
Terrace Free Library of Philadelphia Wedding Reception
The reception took place on the rooftop of the Free Library, with Philadelphia’s beautiful skyline to wow guests! The couple’s first dance was a special moment, and the rest of the night was filled with dancing, laughter, and lots of love. One of our favorite moments was when the DJ announced that Ted would be buying everyone a round at the after party and he threw up his middle finger, laughing heartily. Juxtaposed with the elegant setting, it perfectly encapsulated the day – totally classy, but with a playful core.
Overall, Megan and Ted’s August rooftop wedding at the Free Library of Philadelphia was a truly magical and unforgettable event. The couple chose a beautiful and unique setting for their big day, and their love shone through in every detail. Congratulations & many years of great love to Megan and Ted!
