Whenever we have the chance to put our heads together and creative energies into an editorial shoot with friends in the industry, we get very excited. And this shoot with some of our favorites, like Leigh Florist’s designs & Stella Baking, takes all of what we love about summer and brings it life.
Inspiration: Dream Weddings Magazine
When we talked with Martine about inspiration for brides, we knew we had to feature an ethereal summer wedding. Inspired by the warmth and romance of a heady summer’s night, we pulled together with some of our fellow area creatives and the results were incredible.
Inspiration: Leigh Florist’s Designs
Denise at Leigh Florist has simply outdone herself with these arrangements. The vibrant colors caught the sun and burned all the brighter for it. We loved the way the textures of the different flowers played with each other and were set off by some waxy smooth greens. The different flower crowns included some unique choices as well, like air plants. The way the wispy tendrils grew out of the boho half up-do was utterly magical.
The centerpieces brought the same colorful punch and textural interest to the tablescapes. We loved the way the dimensions shifted with the mixed metal vases and the spindly gold stands. Taper candles have faded from popularity in the last twenty years or so, but we love the resurgence they’re making with the 2019 wedding season. Leigh Florist’s designs really bring an air of warmth and elegance to your events.
But the party piece was definitely the stunningly appointed arch. Who wouldn’t want to get married in front of such a romantic place? The deep green leaves pulled right from a sugar maple stood out among the softly textured hydrangeas and roses. Everything pulled together for a truly stunning floral display.
Inspiration: Cake & Cupcakes by Stella Baking
Oh my, these cakes and cupcakes were utterly mouth watering. Christine at Stella Baking brought the traditional favorites of chocolate and vanilla, but paired them with sumptuous summer ripe berries. Black berries and blueberries bursting with juiciness nestled on a pillow of buttercream. The naked wedding cake glowed in the summer sun. Beneath its lightly frosted exterior, the layers of cake and cream nearly begged to be sliced into and enjoyed.
We didn’t dare take too long photographing these confectionary delights for fear we might be overwhelmed by temptation. Somehow, we resisted to capture the craftsmanship that Stella Baking put into their creations.
Inspiration: Chocolate Delights by Mecha Chocolate
The bite sized chocolates that Mecha Chocolates brought to the table, were delicate confections that enticed the eye and delighted the palate. We loved the inspiration they drew from bark and making a summery version of what most people enjoy around the holidays. Perfectly crunchy, melt in your mouth chocolate, and all so pretty. A great way to satisfy a sweet tooth in between dance sets.
Inspiration: Hair + Makeup by Elegance Artistry
Our dear friend Sara Mann from Elegance Artistry is to thank for the lovely light and clean makeup for the bridal looks. The way she brought dynamic light to the makeup, capturing the dewy look that is so popular right now, and bringing subtle drama was masterful. Her realization of the half up, bohemian styled hair played perfectly with the entire inspiration for this summery shoot. And she herself is a true pleasure to work with.
Inspiration: Dreamy Dresses by Bridal Garden
Lace and illusions were in great supply with the dresses Bridal Garden brought. Is there anything more summery than lace and light tulle? We loved the lace sleeve of the second look with the dainty ties at the cuff. Paired with the air plant flower crown, everything fell into place for a dreamy midsummer’s evening.
Inspiration: Invitations by the Paperly Studio
The navy and gold inked invitations by the Paperly Studio were simple and charming. They set the stage for guests to enjoy an evening of warmth and natural delights.
