Old City Portraits | Lauren Romania & Jack Widmann

As many couples have navigated pandemic wedding planning, especially in the city of Philadelphia, many have made changes to their original plans. For Lauren and Jack, they moved their wedding to the suburbs where they could have the open air flow that allowed them to have the guest count they wanted. Appleford Estate was the perfect place for them, but it meant that they couldn’t get their Old City portraits like they initially wanted. So, we got creative.

After talking about it together, Lauren emailed the indomitable Adam at the National Parks Service to see if they might be able to move their permit to a weekday before the wedding. He was all too happy to oblige. We decided on Monday to kick off a week of celebration with Old City portraits.

The Merchant Exchange Building is one of our very favorites, but sometimes it’s fun to find new angles and perspectives. That was the challenge that we gave ourselves, and, not to brag but, we think it turned out lovely! Lauren and Jack were also able to calm any jittery nerves ahead of the wedding photos. Because they’d been planning from Chicago, they hadn’t been able to work with us in front of the camera yet, but their Old City portraits were the perfect opportunity!

Having a round of portraits before your wedding is a great idea! Whether it’s an engagement session or snagging some couple’s portraits ahead of the wedding, we would definitely recommend grabbing some time with your photographer, because who doesn’t love more pictures?
