Heather and Justin are seriously awesome people. Their Parque Ridley Creek engagement session was absolutely stunning. We took full advantage of the gorgeous autumn weather. But, while we would normally wax poetic about the actual engagement session, we wanted to share more with you about Heather and Justin themselves.
“We met in England in medical school! We were relocated there after our school’s home island of Sint Maarten was destroyed by Hurricane Irma. We wound up being in the same study group and the rest is pretty much history! I think we knew it was meant to be after we returned back to the island and started spending more and more time together.”
What was the first thing each of you thought when you met your future spouse?
“We met at a dinner party and Heather felt that I was the only one in the room that she had common ground with. I felt mostly the same but I definitely thought we were going to date at some point. I think we both kinda delayed it because we both went to medical school single and with the sole intention of burying ourselves in studying.”
What should I know about you two as a couple?
“Given our medical background, there are times we’ll have conversations that ordinarily would not be considered the most appropriate for dinner table discussion. We are very logic driven, scientists types but that doesn’t mean we don’t love being couple-y and romantic!”
Please name at least one thing (or more!) you each love about your
future spouse!
“I love that Heather still makes me feel needed even though she is fully smart and independent enough to be on her own. We share many of the same goals in life and it certainly helps to be with someone who understands how difficult medical school can be. Heather says that she loves that I’m always there for her when she’s happy or sad, or having a medical school-induced mental breakdown!”
Have you done any traveling as a couple, or do you plan to? Where have you been together, and what’s on your future travel list?
“Our entire relationship has been about traveling. We lived together in Sint Maarten as well as outside London. We’ve actually yet to live together in the US! We’ve traveled to Edinburgh, Paris, Berlin, and Prague. We’ve also spent time on each coast as I’m from Philly and she’s from San Francisco. We have a long future travel list but the highlights are Vienna (as our trip there was canceled by COVID), Iceland, Australia, Alaska, and hopefully Antarctica some day. I’m sure we could find many more to add to this list!”
