Happy Groundhog Day! While winter will probably cling on for a while longer, we can start looking forward to spring. Or, as any Philadelphia wedding photographer knows it, wedding season!
One of the many things I’m looking forward to is a new crop of wedding trends. The spring/summer runways are a great way to predict what brides will be wearing. Here are a few things I’ve been seeing that I’m really excited to see again:
Off the Shoulder
I’m seeing this trend everywhere, and I love it! Sexy meets romantic, and the triangle shape it creates makes your waist look so tiny! Jenny Packham used this look a lot in her spring/summer collection. This semi-Grecian version used a variant of off-the-shoulder, the “cold shoulder”, which uses beautiful draping for a extra romance.
Color
The non-white wedding dress is still going strong in 2015! Designers like Vera Wang led the charge last year, and the trend continues. Pastels and unique hues have appeared on spring/summer runways for this year. I’m particularly fond of this pistachio Monique Lhuillier gown.
Capelets & Shrugs
Capes and shrugs are great accessories, especially if you’re getting married during chillier months! They add detail and drama almost effortlessly, not to mention the extra warmth they lend when you’re not walking down the aisle. The best part is, you can go dramatic or demure, depending on your taste. At one end of the spectrum is this beaded, ostrich-trim Naeem Khan cape that any superhero would be proud to wear! At the other, try a little eyelet lace capelet with a button closure.
Dramatic Necklines
Interesting necklines have been hinted at over the past year, but in 2015, the drama is at an all-time high! Plunging necklines are the obvious choice for a bride who wants to feel sexy, and illusion necklines are a beautiful trend that is still in this year, as well. Even so, it doesn’t get more high drama than a high collar! Even a high neckline can be sexy, as this Galia Lahav dress proves beyond a shadow of a doubt. A high collar lends a regal air, and on your wedding day, you should feel like a queen.
