Have you ever known a couple who are beautiful people on their own, but when they get together, something magical happens and they become infinitely more radiant? That is Sarah and Leo. From their pre-wedding jitters, Leo being blindfolded for the Ketubah ceremony and his giant grin as Sarah walked down the aisle, to Sarah’s joyous laugh and their sweet kisses and embraces, this wedding was a pure joy to be a part of.
It was a gorgeous mid-October Sunday when we arrived at the Wayne Art Center to capture our bride and groom getting ready for their date at the altar. Both Sarah and Leo were a little jittery, nervous to make sure the day went perfectly, but as the pieces fell into place, they relaxed and enjoyed their last few moments as fiancés. Sarah was demure and poised as she slipped into her dress and knelt to allow her bridesmaids and mom pin her veil in. Leo, in a room on the opposite side of the building, was a little more anxious as he fastened his buttons and fixed his tie. But, when he was blindfolded for his Ketubah ceremony, a transformation took place. A wide smile lit across his face, and his nerves settled.
He was lead through the labyrinth of hallways to where Sarah was, and, as she stood behind him, his blindfold was lowered and they listened together to the rabbi together, holding hands, but her remaining hidden from his sight. It was completely worth it. When she walked down the aisle to the chuppah where he waited, his smile was amazing. It communicated so much about how much he loves her, it moved everyone, including us.
After the glass was smashed and the guests cried Mazel Tov!, we retreated for some couples portraits on the grounds. Sarah and Leo couldn’t get enough of each other. Their love is something that many people aspire to, and it was inspiring to us to watch how devoted to one another they are. After many sweet kisses, long embraces and plenty of smiles and laughs, we delivered them to their reception to enjoy the company of their family and friends. In Jewish tradition, they danced a Hora and it was a delightfully raucous melée. All too soon, it was cake cutting time and we were on our way home.
This wedding highlights just how much love people are capable of, and how beautiful love makes everyone and everything it touches. Congratulations you two! We wish you many many years of this same love!
