Is there anything more pure than an historic chapel, a committed loving couple, and a beautiful sunset? Christine and JD’s Washington Memorial Chapel elopement was the beautiful confluence of all these things. Just a short distance from our studio, the Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge is a stunning stone cathedral. We love the stained glass windows and rich history of this place. Christine and JD wrote their chapter in the history of the Washington Memorial Chapel when they eloped this February.
It was just Christine, JD, the priests, and Ashley to witness their loving union. When it’s such an intimate wedding, every moment feels weighty. It was such a pleasure to capture these moments for them and for all who care about them. It was also a pleasant change to not have to worry about being in anyone’s way. When they were officially married, it was such a beautiful and quiet moment. We paused for a couple pictures in the Washington Memorial Chapel, making use of that gorgeous stained glass. It’s rare that we get an empty church to play with. Once we made our way outside, we lit up the stone porticos for some awesome pictures before heading across the street for sunset portraits.
Right across the street from the chapel, the rolling hills of Valley Forge sprawl off into the distance. This canvas was painted even more beautifully by the sunset. Christine and JD snuggled together, enjoyed some quiet moments, and some big laughs. This distilled timeframe for couple’s portraits was a relaxing departure from the fast pace of most wedding days. And Ashley made full use of it.
It was an amazing evening with a great couple in a beautiful place. We’ll take an elopement at the Washington Memorial Chapel any day of the week. Any takers?
