Our 2015 started off beautifully when we packed up our gear for the first wedding of the season. There was a familiar surge of excitement as we arrived at the Loews Hotel to photograph Victoria and Nate. Victoria, or Tori as she is affectionately known, was a joy to photograph. Demure yet excited, she eagerly showed us where her dress was hanging, and all the custom hangers for her bridesmaids as well. All too soon, her hair and makeup were finished and she got dressed for her first look with her love. Meanwhile, just a few floors away, Nate was enjoying his morning with his groomsmen. The hair gel had been applied, the bow tie was secure and straight, and under his cool exterior there was an excitement that seemed to beat with his heart.
We orchestrated their first look on a stunning staircase that was enclosed by polished ebony granite, a perfect surface for reflections. As excited family members looked on, Tori slowly descended the stairs to tap Nate on the shoulder. When their eyes met, time seemed to stand still. The first truly magical moment of our season – the first of many we would later find.
City Hall was the location they had chosen for their couples portraits, and we made good use of them. The iconic Broad Street shot as well as several more intimate moments within the courtyard. The entire time, they were consumed with each other and as a result, our jobs were made easy. We just let them be together and photographed the beauty that unfolded.
Then it was time to get this amazing couple to the chapel, or rather, the magnificent Ballroom at the Ben for their ceremony. Their simple and elegant ketubah was signed in a private ceremony with just family and their closest friends as witnesses, and then they made their way to the chuppah. An exchange of vows and rings, one broken glass and a rousing chorus of Mazel Tov later, and the new Dr. and Mrs. happily walked back down the aisle to the applause of their guests.
After a fabulous cocktail hour, they were introduced into the reception and shared a tender first dance. Followed quickly by the father daughter and mother son dance and toasts by their best man and maid of honor, the night happily passed in a blur of dancing and love.
Thank you Tori and Nate for kicking off 2015 right and giving us a front row seat to your beautiful love story.
