Ann + Ryan | Married

Ann and Ryan had a perfectly quintessential Philadelphia wedding. From their getting ready locations – their apartment just north of the historic heart of Philly and the Loews hotel – to their reception at Reading Terminal Market, this wedding took us all over the city we love so dearly.

Ann got ready at the home she shared with Ryan. A charming apartment that was just a few blocks north of all the many historic attractions of the city that founded a nation. It was an emotionally charged morning. Her excitement was barely contained, and the tears of joy were just barely held back. As she got her hair and makeup finished, she smiled as she checked her tears and seemed to be soaking in every moment of the day she had waited so long for. Her incredible gown by Theia Couture was a masterpiece. An illusion neckline with delicate beading in an art deco pattern on the bodice that gave way to hand sewn petals that gracefully dusted the floor. One of the top dresses we saw this last season for sure. Her soft pink Calvin Klein Lucette heels and sparkling clutch were a wonderful pairing for her dress and picked up the pink and navy in her bouquet beautifully. As she dabbed on some Something Blue perfume by Oscar De La Renta, she was ready to head to the church to see Ryan and get the show on the road.

Ryan, in the meantime, had been having a relaxed and chill time with his dad, father in law, and groomsmen at the Loews. They had a big basket of genuine Philadelphia soft pretzels to go with their suits and jackets. Ryan had gifted each guy a pair of polka dotted socks to complete their groomsmen ensembles. His jacket had been lined with luxurious purple silk and was fitted perfectly to him. Completely unflappable, he fielded a few last minute phone calls before getting on the bus to head to the church to wait for his bride.

They arrived at St. Augustine Church, the very church that M Night Shyamalan had filmed part of the Sixth Sense in, and as the music swelled, Ann emerged from the foyer with her father. All the emotion she had kept dammed up all day burst through in a flood of tears. The moment had finally arrived when she and Ryan would start their happily ever after. She wasn’t the only one, her niece was also a puddle of tears clinging tightly to Ann’s mother for the entire ceremony. It was a very moving service as these two independent people joined together as one and committed their lives to one another. With a shout, they were announced man and wife and left the church to the applause of their family and friends.

Then it was off to City Hall for some couples portraits. September is prime wedding season, and there were many other couples lined up for the famed Broad Street shot, so we took the path less traveled and utilized the arches and courtyard of City Hall for some more intimate images. Not to mention it protected everyone from the light rain that had begun to fall. After we’d wrapped up, we made our way over to Reading Terminal Market for the reception festivities.

If you’ve never been to Reading Terminal, it is a labyrinth of local vendors who sell everything from authentic New York deli style sandwiches to homemade beeswax candles. You can find almost anything here and get a great meal to boot. In the back, they’d set up a dance floor and tables that were decorated with an eclectic mix of flea market bottles filled with flowers. There were string lights gently glowing overhead, and the mood of the room was one of urban romance. Everyone flitted between the different food stations ranging from a delectable scallop dish to mini tomato soup and grilled cheeses. Guests were able to tailor their meal to their preference and everything was incredibly delicious. After toasts and dances, the floor opened up, and the party was truly underway, with no one dancing more than Ann’s niece, Noelle.
