Hannah and Dustin got married in his hometown of Ambler and we got quite a history lesson while we were there. We journeyed to the Ambler train station for some romantic portraits and learned that the town of Ambler actually gets its name from Mary Johnson Ambler who, after hearing of a terrible train accident nearby, walked two miles to help with rescue and emergency medical efforts and saved many lives. She even let wounded passengers stay in her home. Twenty years after her death, the town was renamed Ambler in her honor. Hannah happens to be a nurse. Coincidence? I think not.
Beyond the stories surrounding the train station, there is also the Ambler theater: a restored Warner Brothers theater that now displays independent and limited release films. We enjoyed learning all about the town from someone who loves it like a member of the family. We were so happy to experience the hometown pride of Dustin and capture the beginning of his family in the place where his journey began.
