Where Should You Get Ready? {part two}

In case you missed it last week we covered part one of how to decide where you should get ready. You can find that blog post here. Today we will focus on two other questions you can ask yourself while you consider where to get ready.

Environment. Consider the environment you’re getting ready. Is it a positive one? Or are you somewhere that’s going to stress you out? Is there family drama going on at your house? Maybe you might want to get ready at a hotel. Or will be added cost of renting a hotel room add undue strain on your budget? Consider getting ready at a family home or even the home of a friend. In our experience, environment makes a big difference in the quality of your getting ready photos. Don’t get us wrong, as your professional photographers, it is our job and joy to give you the absolute best images we possibly can with the tools we are given to work with. However, when you get ready in a beautifully appointed, well lit and spacious room, full of happy low stress people, your photos look just that much better. And isn’t that what everyone really wants?

Gentlemen, all of these questions apply to you as well. We know that you are all tough and manly men, but we want your getting ready pictures to be just as nice as your bride to be’s. So instead of a dark billiards room, ask if there’s an unused suite somewhere for you and your guys to get ready. Your fiancé will thank you when she gets a lovely picture of the man she loves.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, are you comfortable where you are getting ready? Weddings are a uniquely stressful thing. They affect everyone differently and some more than others. Ultimately, the more relaxed and comfortable you are, the better you will look in your photos. We don’t want you to be stressed out, worried, frowning or crying in a bad way. We want you to be perfectly at ease, laughing and having a wonderful time. The only tears we want to see are tears of joy or from raucous laughter. Wherever you get ready, we promise that you will look gorgeous and knock the socks off your groom awaiting you at the end of the aisle.
