“If you’re out on the road, feeling lonely and so cold. All you have to do is call my name, and I’ll be there, on the next train.”
Do those words make your heart instantly happy like they do for us? If they do, then this is one shoot you don’t want to miss. We imagined what it would be like if Lorelai and Rory Gilmore got married in a joint wedding and the results were incredible.
A Coffee and Danish Fueled Love Affair
The details came together perfectly for this shoot. Spearheaded by Sarah French Events, Aribella Events and us, there was no stone left unturned for the inspiration of this shoot.
The cake from House of Clarendon was decorated with swirls of coffee colored fondant, deep mocha polka dots, and was topped with a simple coffee mug with beans spilling out. For two ladies whose life motto is “I need coffee in an I.V.” this cake really delivers. “And if eating cake is wrong, I don’t want to be right!”
During the couples portraits session, Luke very sweetly pours Lorelai a cup of coffee. Their relationship began over coffee and Luke’s desperate attempts to stem the tide of Lorelai’s obsession, but eventually she wears him down with her quick wit and he becomes her coffee enabler instead.
The rest of the desserts were beautiful donuts, sinful poptarts, and delicious danishes – especially cherry.
The Gilmore Girls’ Incredible Details
Harry Merrill & Sons Jewelers more than delivered on the wedding rings for Lorelai and Rory. A gorgeous vintage inspired engagement ring that featured two sapphire baguettes on the sides, was absolutely perfect for our favorite independent single mom. The accompanying wedding band was also a vintage infinity band set in gold. The diamond and sapphire bracelet was a stunning accessory to the ensemble.
The invitations for Luke and Lorelai’s wedding from Dear Love Invitations featured Lorelai’s favorite flower: daisies. They invited the entire town to the Stars Hollow Gazebo for their happy day and to share in the festivities with them.
The bouquet from Aribella Events spoke to Lorelai’s eclectic tendencies. It combined fresh flowers with paper and felt ones. The rich hues tied into the vibrant jewelry and tenacity of our leading lady.
Meanwhile, Rory was not to be forgotten. The globetrotter who left college to take the world by storm found a beau while abroad and their wedding details showcased this love of travel and, of course, books.
Her bouquet was an old book tied with a trio of roses. Rory’s great love of books is no secret and it was only fitting that her bouquet feature what was always in her hand.
The gorgeous rings from her fiancé were a fantastic mix of elegance and whimsy, just like Rory. The bright yellow gold settings and the daring geometric shapes of the wedding band complemented the sweet flower of the engagement ring perfectly. Sweet and daring, just like Rory.
To salute her globe trotting ways, Rory and Damon’s invitations were imprinted with a water color globe along the edges. The vintage paper hearkens back to the love of classic literature and marries it perfectly with the currently love of global exploration.
There was even a bit of family history incorporated as the girls each received a ring from Richard’s mother, Trix. These mind-blowing vintage rings are the height of old world decadence and Trix would have been proud to see her granddaughter and great-granddaughter wearing them as they said I do.
The Stars Hollow Gazebo Wedding
Lorelai and Rory are the darlings of Stars Hollow and it was only fitting that their wedding be in the town square at the gazebo. We’re sure Taylor Doose had some hoops for them to jump through, which made Luke insane for certain, but eventually everything came together. The archway was decorated with the same smattering of real roses with felt and paper ones, and the fantastical shapes created brought us straight into the quirkiness of these two Gilmore girls.
There is so much more that could be said about this shoot, but we just want to let you see and decide for yourselves.
