The wedding uniting Lydia and Richard back at the beginning of October was a most joyous occasion. The fruition of a long search for “the one” and an incredible celebration of these two wonderful people. Everything took place at the church they know and love so well, Covenant Fellowship in Glen Mills.
Getting Ready at Covenant Fellowship Church
From the moment we arrived to the Sunday school classroom where Lydia was getting ready, we fell in love with this beautiful woman and her quirky style. She is known as the lady who is always knitting, and true to form, she had a bag with knitting in it — you know, just in case she had some down time before the ceremony. Every one of her details had a story behind it. The rhinestone purse from her aunt, the delicate white gold bracelet her daughter brought her from Italy, and the vintage bracelet that was passed down from her mother’s mother. Not to mention the three rings from Richard, one of which was yet to be given. She was radiant and carefree as she put the final touches on and slipped into her wedding dress.
Meanwhile, Richard was patiently but excitedly waiting upstairs to see his bride. He has the most adorable smile and he couldn’t contain it all day long. His suit was pressed, his watch and shoes on, and he was ready to get this show on the road.
Their Ceremony at Covenant Fellowship Church
Lydia has been a long time member of Covenant Fellowship and as such has developed a very close relationship to a few of the pastors of the congregation. Andy Farmer is one of them and has taken on the role of counselor and mentor in her life in the wake of her father’s death. She asked him if he would do the honor of giving her away, and he gladly accepted. That processional was one of the most beautiful things we saw that day. Richard was waiting for her at the end of the aisle with a smile so wide you could almost fall into it. Their love for each was palpable and throughout their ceremony they often smiled at and laughed with each other.
Their faith is incredibly important to them and they included a visual representation of God in their marriage by tying a God’s Knot. A gold cord, purple cord, and white cord are braided together in a symbol of the uniting of the bride and groom with God woven in between. This new cord is stronger than the previous cords, and will hang in their home as a reminder of the promises they made during their wedding.
The Reception at Covenant Fellowship Church
Their reception was a low key affair with light fare from Village Caterers and lots of talking and laughing together. When everything was winding down and guests were beginning to leave, we took Lydia and Richard out for portraits and we saw just how deeply they love one another. The joy they shared at finally uniting their lives was contagious. We found ourselves smiling along with them as they shared kiss after kiss, hug after hug, and laugh after laugh. Then we went to Bruster’s Ice Cream, where they went on their first date and many times after, and let them share some ice cream on their bench before they set off for their honeymoon in Maine. In a twist of serendipity, the employee who waited on them on their first date, waited on them on their wedding day too! A truly sweet ending to a sweet day.
Lydia and Richard, we hope you had a beautiful time in Maine and that your lives are always marked by the love and joy we witnessed at your wedding! Here’s to many happy returns!

Lydia’s vintage rhinestone purse made a beautiful background for her incredible rose gold wedding rings.

Lydia and Richard’s wedding rings were rose gold beauties! And the vintage flower pin on her bouquet added a unique flare to her plum tones.

We love Richard’s effortless charm. An incredibly sweet man, he was simply beaming as he waited to marry his bride, Lydia.

Lydia has known Andy for a long time, he has been her pastor, mentor and friend. He was truly honored to walk her down the aisle and she couldn’t have been more excited at his participation.

Andy pulled double duty and gave the prayer of blessing over the couple after escorting Lydia down the aisle.

In a truly adorable move, Lydia and Richard blocked their first kiss with her bouquet so they could have a special moment for just themselves.

Lydia and Richard had their cake topper specially made because their dates would often involve trips to Brusters, where they would sit on “their bench” together and talk for hours.

Lydia and Richard have a deeply rooted faith that is very important to them and to signify God’s presence in their marriage, they tied a “God’s Knot” where they braided three cords together and had the explanation in their wedding programs.
