The Manor at Commonwealth Wedding | Carly Taverna & Joseph

Carly and Joe’s spring time wedding was marked by their love shielding them from the cold drizzle that plagued their wedding day. All throughout their portraits, you never would have guessed that the temperature was below 60 and there was rain living in the air. They smiled warmly, embraced fiercely, and kept each other cozy the entire day.

When Rachel and Jenn arrived at the Manor at the Commonwealth, we found Carly’s mom Lauren hard at work getting things set up. Talk about super mom. Not only was she proactive in the wedding plans and mother of the bride, but she also served as the florist! Her arrangements were quite lovely and it was obvious that she deeply cared for every last detail.

Soon thereafter, Carly arrived from the hair salon. She and her sister and a close friend made a beeline for the for the bridal suite and started putting on their makeup. It was apparent that Carly was not nervous at all. She was cool and collected, constantly smiling, and just waiting to don her (dress name here) dress and meet Joe down the aisle.

When the time finally came, a handsome Joe took his place at the altar and Carly came down the beautiful staircase to link arms with her father and take her final steps as Joe’s fiancé. The smile they shared was brilliant. A proud father with his beautiful daughter. The ceremony was short and sweet, and before we knew it, a new Mr and Mrs joyously walked back down the aisle.

After taking time to capture their beautiful romance outside, we rejoined all the guests to get the reception party underway. After their first dance, Carly and Joe opened the microphone to any and all who wanted to say a few words to the newlyweds. There were quite a few takers, everyone offering their well wishes, advice, and a couple of mildly embarrassing stories were also shared. The dance floor opened after dinner and the couple requested an anniversary dance. When all the couples were cleared, the longest married couple in attendance (a whopping 60 years married! Talk about goals…) the DJ asked them if they had any advice to share with the newlyweds about how to make their marriage last for the long haul. After a mischievous grin, the wife said, “G I B.” Everyone looked at her, the unspoken question of, “what does that mean?” Sensing this, she clarified. “Good in bed.” It takes a lot to surprise a wedding photographer as seasoned as Rachel, but that response had her crying tears of laughter the rest of the night.

So, Carly and Joe, we wish you lots of love and happiness, and many years of G I B.
