Jennifer and Ross and their Morris Arboretum wedding was a true delight from start to finish. The second we met these two, we knew their wedding was going to be filled with sweetness, and we were so right!
Getting Ready at DoubleTree Suites Plymouth Meeting
It was a pleasant September afternoon when we arrived to photograph Jen and Ross as they began their wedding day preparations. Jen had taken a lot of time to prepare a delightful palette for us to capture on her wedding day. She’d thought of everything. Her grandfather’s signet ring and her mothers sapphire one served as her some borrowed and blue. And her delicate pearl necklace served as the perfect accompaniment to her BHLDN wedding dress, which featured an intricate lace back.
Jen herself was bedecked in the most adorable bridal robe while her hair and makeup was wrapping up. With a hand from her maid of honor, she slipped out of the robe and into her dress and the transformation was utterly incredible. She was every bit the radiant bride we knew she was going to be. With clouds gathering and us praying to the heavens that they wouldn’t open up on us, we proceeded to Valley Green for their first look. Ross was already on his way after his fun morning making sure he was as handsome as possible for his wife to be.
The First Look at Valley Green Inn
Before heading to the Morris Arboretum for their wedding ceremony, we detoured to Valley Green in Wissahickon Park for a first look. As we raced the clouds, Ross was set up along the path following the creek and Jen eagerly tapped his shoulder. As he turned, the first drops began to fall. So we quickly took cover and thanks to umbrellas and a tent, were able to capture some of the beauty of the rain while staying dry.
More Portraits and the Morris Arboretum Wedding Ceremony
As we left for Morris Arboretum, the clouds parted and the rain gods gave us a few minutes for some more portraits in the Rose garden with Jen and Ross with family and friends while guests arrived. Though there were a couple drops here and there, we managed to keep everyone looking great for the ceremony.
In a gutsy call, Jen and Ross had their ceremony outdoors as planned and it was perfect. Not too hot, a light breeze, and two madly in love people declaring their marriage vows to each other. The ceremony was brief so as not to tempt fate, but we were struck by the way they kept looking at each other. It was as if everyone else didn’t exist. And the joy when they were pronounced was unrivaled. Then it was time for their party!
The Morris Arboretum Wedding Reception
Their wedding reception was peppered with personal touches. Jenga blocks for guests to sign, a signature drink, and a wardrobe change. After their first dance and parent dances, Jen opted to change into a killer pantsuit, not unlike this one from Jamie’s wedding the year before. She cut a daring figure in it and the party was on!
