Pen Ryn Estate Wedding | Sandi Brown & Jim Merritt

When Sandi and Jim told us they planned to have a “shot ski” they would share at the end of their wedding ceremony at Pen Ryn Estate, we knew we were in for a great day. And we were not disappointed!

Getting Ready

At a nearby hotel, Sandi and her wedding party were draped in feather boas, sipping champagne, and having an absolute blast. Her stunning burgundy accented invitation suite was laid open, and we quickly photographed all her delightful details. The music was going, and before too long, we were capturing some fun pictures of the wedding party hanging out just before getting dressed.

When Sandi slipped into her perfect wedding dress, her mom gave her a hand with the zipper, and the transformation was complete. Stunning bride. We knew Jim was going to feel the same way. However, before we could see him, Sandi’s dad wanted the chance to see his daughter. Just outside the hotel, she tapped his shoulder and he took her arm while telling her how beautiful she was. Then, it was time to head to Pen Ryn.

Meanwhile, Jim and his fellas were having a ball. There were lots of laughs, some at Jim’s expense, as they all put on their suits and fastened their ties. They shared a toast in the hallway before getting on the bus to Pen Ryn.

First Look at Pen Ryn Estate

On a simply perfect day, bathed in sunlight, Jim stood out in the shade of a few golden trees waiting for Sandi to tap his shoulder. He felt her presence come closer to him and the smile on his face got broader with each step. When she tapped his shoulder, and he saw her, they both put the sun to shame with their radiant smiles.

We spent some time wandering about, finding the perfect pockets of light and scenery to capture their portraits. Bridal party kept the mood light and fun with their travel speaker blasting party music. Pro tip, have a mini speaker for wedding party portraits. It helps when you want a “catwalk” look to have the beat drop just as the ladies start their strut.

Once all the portraits, including family, were taken care of, it was time to hideaway as guests began to arrive. The ceremony would commence shortly.

The Ceremony & Reception at Pen Ryn

It was a gorgeous autumn day, a few puffy white clouds in the sky and delightfully warm, when Sandi walked down the aisle to Jim. Before their family and friends, they shared their vows and promises to one another. Once they’d been pronounced husband and wife and were walking back up the aisle, they stopped for a “shot ski” as newlyweds. The party was on.

Thanks in part to some fantastic DJ work by Taz Sellers of Silver Sound DJs, Sandi and Jim’s reception started off with a bang. The bridal party charged in and made a tunnel for the bride and groom. It was super fun and started the party right.

Toasts were shared, recounting some of the misadventures of Sandi and Jim, and they each shared a dance with their parents. Once the cake was cut, the dance floor kicked off. And never stopped. Sandi was out there the most of anyone. The night couldn’t have been more perfect for them. Congrats again!
