Bolingbroke Mansion:
A Historic Indoor/Outdoor Setting

Bolingbroke Mansion is a perfectly kept little secret nestled in the Main Line and conveniently located to EVERYTHING! Plus, between the charming architecture of this historic wedding venue and the Catering By Design culinary team (also behind the Michener Museum and downtown f avorites ONE North Broad and the College of Physicians ), you'll be planning the wedding of a lifetime!

Things we love about Bolingbroke Mansion:

  1. The Personality
The main floor of the mansion boasts four unique spaces for your guests and receptions here feel more like having dinner at a wealthy friend's epic home than a traditional ballroom reception. Three of the four rooms have original fireplaces and other quirks like a baby grand piano and built in cabinetry featuring historic china all contribute to Bolingbroke Mansion's unique personality.
  2. The Grounds
Standing out on the back patio and looking out over the two tiered gardens, full of lush greenery, it's easy to see why we love photographing at Bolingbroke Mansion. But don't forget to turn around and admire the beautiful architecture of the warm-hued stone facade, which may actually be our favorite backdrop on the property.
  3. The Location
Just minutes away from Bolingbroke is the heart of Wayne, filled with high-end salons & spas for your bridal party to savor and several beautiful hotels for your guests to enjoy. (We always love the Radnor Hotel!) If guests are making a weekend of it, there are tons of award winning restaurants and entertainment within a few minutes drive.
  4. Indoor/Outdoor Spaces that Flow Seamlessly
Looking for an on-site ceremony space that is worth the hype? How does an open air cocktail hour in the gardens sound to you? Bolingbroke Mansion is perfectly laid out for guests to flow in and out of the mansion, showcasing the entire property throughout your event.
  5. Say it again, Catering By Design
We're big fans of Catering By Design and honored to be among the preferred photographers who work with their team at all of their stunning exclusive venues. But trust us, just one bite at one of their awesome tasting events and you'll be converts, too!

Bolingbroke Mansion:
Things to Plan Around for Your Wedding

We think that Bolingbroke Mansion has just about everything that you'd want in a historic mansion wedding venue, but it's important to know that these types of venues can have their limitations.

Some things to plan for if Bolingbroke Mansion is your dream venue:

  1. The Bridal Suite
There is space available to you, but if we're being honest, it is not much better than a nursery school classroom. Why? Because the second floor of Bolingbroke Mansion has actually been converted to a day care. We suggest simply using this space for any day of storage your crew may need rather than getting into your dress on site. If you're looking for beautiful getting ready photos, we recommend finding a nearby hotel as an alternative gett i ng ready location.
  2. The Outdoor Ceremony rain plan
First off, we should say that tons of venues' rain plans are nothing more than moving your ceremony into the ballroom and moving around the tables, so we think Bolingbroke's covered patio is actually a better option than that. But depending on your guest count, it can be a pretty tight squeeze under there.
  3. The Different Rooms
If the idea of creating a seating chart gives you anxiety, then choosing which guests get to be in the same room as you during dinner might push you over the edge. As with most historic homes, Bolingbroke Mansion's layout will require your guests to spread out among the different rooms for an indoor seated dinner. So if you need space from some of your extended family, awesome! But for some people having to chose who gets put in a peripheral room for dinner is more stress than it is worth.
  4. The Size
Even before 2020 made having a "micro-wedding" the cool thing to do, Bolingbroke Mansion was perfectly sized for events on the more intimate side. The indoor space can comfortably fit guest counts of 120 guests or fewer, so if you're looking at a larger guest list, you'll either have to consider an outdoor celebration or another venue.

There's nothing quite like seeing images from a real wedding to help you decide if a venue is the right fit for you. So here are some of blogs Featuring some of our favorite work at Bolingbroke Mansion for you to check out!
