Shamala + Dan • Married {part one}

It was a wonderfully warm and sunny Saturday in late May, and we arrived to photograph Shamala and Dan’s wedding. Each had paid incredible attention to detail and we got to see all the parts come together beautifully. Shamala was graceful and exuberant as she carefully slipped into her lacey sheath dress. Her eyes lit up when a small Tiffany blue bag from her betrothed arrived, and she positively beamed as she opened it to reveal a string of pearls for her to wear as she walked down the aisle to meet him. Dan was stoic but lighthearted as he donned his navy suit, tied his tie and affixed his personalized tie clip. When Shamala’s gift to him arrived all wrapped in pink, he opened it with eager expectation and revealed a handsome leather band watch.

An extremely meaningful "something old" from Shamala's Oma, a dainty handkerchief with beautiful embroidery and the gorgeous wedding rings that she and Dan would exchange later that day.

Love little details for the groom and his men. These personalized tie clips were very classy.

We love when a bride and groom exchange last minute gifts on the day of their wedding and Shamala and Dan really pulled out all the stops.

Placement of the veil is a task that requires a steady hand and a few good bobby pins.

There was beautiful window light for us to get some portraits of the two of them separately as they awaited the moment that they would come together as husband and wife. There was no shortage of great light in this wedding, natural and manmade. Their portraits hitting the blog tomorrow will show you what a little extra light can do to sunset photographs.
