Stephanie + Kent | Married | Audubon, PA

Stephanie and Kent got married at the amazingly picturesque John James Audubon Center, a place preserved for the role it played in the history of American art. John James was, for more than half a century, the country’s predominant wildlife artist. Getting to see the land myself, it’s little wonder why he lived there. Nestled in the woods, in a little clearing, is the beautiful mansion overlooking the pond. The elegant stone work was perfect for Stephanie and Kent’s first look and the formals. It was against this beautiful backdrop that two hearts united into one.

Stephanie was nothing but excited when I arrived to photograph her just before their first look. She’d opted for a minimalistic hairstyle, some beautiful soft curls that just dusted her shoulders, and a light and neutral makeup palette. Her BHLDN gown was hung carefully and the lace illusion neckline over the sweetheart top made us swoon. Simple, yet completely beautiful, just like Stephanie. Her bridesmaids were in and out as they attended to last minute details, their lovely teal chiffon dresses flowing most flatteringly. The necklaces that they each wore, were the perfect addition and tied into the pink and gold color theme that ran through the day.

Soon, we got word that Kent had arrived on premise, and I dashed out to get him ready for his first look. He was light and buzzed with a happiness that he struggled to keep contained. He was so so ready to marry Stephanie. His pink tie and American flag socks rounded out his ensemble and we were soon off to the historic mansion to set up the first look.

We opted for a first touch before the first look and it was adorable. Kent was so afraid of accidentally seeing her, and his nerves translated into anxious chatting. But it was so cute to watch. These two are definitely crazy about each other. After we finally let them break the tension, they fell together perfectly. These two are made for one another and it showed with every move they made, every kiss they shared, and in the way their eyes lit up when they laughed with each other. Soon it was time for the ceremony, the part of the day they were most anticipating.

Guys, even after having a first look, Kent teared up as his bride came down the aisle to him! The feeling of love and excitement overwhelmed him and I watched it play out across his face. I think it surprised him a little bit. Their officiant was a cousin of Stephanie’s and he and his sons killed it. They incorporated many wedding traditions from around to globe to celebrate Stephanie and Kent’s love of travel. The most surprising and meaningful of which was a Japanese San San Kudo ceremony in which the couple and their mothers shared sake together. It was led by a surprise guest – her cousin Patrick who flew in from Japan, after sending a misleading wedding rsvp. Stephanie burst into tears when she saw him. Family is of the utmost importance for these two, and to have so many family members involved in marrying them, spoke to the love they all have for each other. After the American tradition of vows and exchanging of rings, they left the ceremony as man and wife, as a shoe flew over the head of the bride in keeping with Irish tradition.

They were announced into their cocktail hour and shared their first dance as husband and wife to the Beach Boys song God Only Knows. Then they had a unique receiving line where they hopped into a DIY’ed photobooth and all of their guests came through and got their photo with the newlyweds.

Too soon, it was time to leave. Congratulations, Stephanie and Kent. We wish you many many years of love and happiness and plenty of travel!
