Wedding at the Michener Museum | Katherine & Garrett

The Michener Museum is the perfect host for those looking for an exquisite & sophisticated celebration space. Katherine & Garrett’s wedding was a work of art full of personal details, from the stunning garden courtyard ceremony featuring fabulous florals to the glass room reception filled with festive favors hand-crafted by the bride. They couldn’t have imagined a more perfect Autumn day to bring friends and family together for their whimsical wedding at the Michener Museum.

Getting Ready for the Wedding at the Michener Museum

Starting the day at the Staybridge Suites, Katherine and her bridal party were already immersed in the excitement of the wedding day. With lively music filling the air and the mimosas flowing, the atmosphere was charged with anticipation. As the ladies gathered their dresses and essentials in preparation to relocate to the museum, we had the pleasure of capturing the exquisite details curated by Katherine. The highlight of her ensemble was undoubtedly her personalized Converse high-tops, adorned with her name, wedding date, and charming mini mushroom motifs, perfectly in tune with the enchanted garden theme.

Upon our arrival at the Michener Museum, we discovered an ideal setting to showcase her dress. The autumn leaves outside harmonized miraculously with the lace embellishments adorning her gown. With the addition of her golden leaf necklace and striking sapphire engagement ring, Katherine added the final touches, radiating an ethereal beauty.

Groom Preparations

Meanwhile, Garrett and his companions were in a lively state, a perfect blend of preparation and celebration. The music resonating from their hotel room set the tone for a joyous day ahead. These groomsmen were undoubtedly among the most well-prepared we’ve encountered. All were dressed in their pants, shirts, and ready to add the rest at Garrett’s direction. There was a designated knot-tier prepared to help put the radiant ruby red ties on each of the guys. Garrett gifted each groomsmen with a matching gold watch and they all sported a fancy ring. Garrett’s dad popped in for a pre-wedding wardrobe check and to rehearse his remarks for the courtyard ceremony. Before heading to the wedding at the Michener Museum, they had to raise a toast to Garrett & his soon-to-be bride using the crystal glasses Garrett gifted each groomsmen.

Once the guys arrived to the wedding at the Michener Museum, getting their floral elements added was a breeze. Garnish crafted perfect pocket floral ‘boutonnieres’ that quickly slipped into their jackets & added a playful pop of color to their classic black suits. We took the guys out into the front courtyard for some cool group shots before settling in for the ceremony.

Courtyard Wedding Ceremony at The Michener Museum

Garnish, Catering by Design’s house floral team, transformed the courtyard wedding ceremony at the Michener Museum into a whimsical sanctuary. A gracefully rounded arch adorned with vibrant blooms served as the focal point, enhancing the stone surroundings with a delicate touch of greenery. Garrett and his father assumed their positions at the altar, while the charming ring bearer proceeded down the aisle, bearing the rings in a meticulously woven nest. As Katherine made her entrance on her father’s arm, emotions surged, evident in Garrett’s reaction upon seeing his radiant bride. With Garrett’s father officiating, the ceremony unfolded with heartfelt moments, including personal vows exchanged between Katherine and Garrett, the presentation of their Brilliant Earth wedding bands, and the sealing of their union with their inaugural kiss as husband and wife.

Family Photos

Prior to releasing the guests to indulge in the Catering by Design cocktail hour, we took a moment to capture some formal family photographs. Amidst the picturesque setting of the Michener Museum, there was no shortage of photogenic spots, yet we were drawn to the captivating arch serving as a breathtaking backdrop.

Wedding Portraits

After a few quick group photos, we released their families to go enjoy the cocktail hour. While everyone else was getting a head start on snacks and drinks, Katherine & Garrett gave us their attention so we could take some truly gorgeous portraits of these two. Katherine’s bubbly smile boasted even brighter now that she had Garrett by her side. Her veil was lined with a colorful floral lace that perfectly fit the whimsical garden vibes of the day. Before we knew it, cocktail hour was winding down and it was time to get these two into the party.

Michener Museum Wedding Reception

Guests were surrounded by more of Katherine’s hand-crafted mushroom decor while sipping and savoring the Catering by Design cocktail hour treats. As the curtains covering the floor-to-ceiling windows to the reception room rose, guests were treated with a preview into the enchanted ballroom. Garnish centerpieces full of colorful wildflowers and more mesmerizing mushrooms graced each table. Each attendee was gleefully greeted at their place with adorable handmade mushroom figures that they could take home to remember Katherine & Garrett’s big day.

Finally, the celebrations began with a round of entertaining entrances from the wound-up wedding party. Katherine & Garrett graciously moved across the center of the dance floor during their first dance as husband and wife. Garrett dipped and kissed his bride to close the song, and they were chased down on the dance floor and joined by Katherine’s son, Ethan. Her father delivered a heartfelt speech, noting how perfect Garrett was for his daughter. To pass the time in between courses and the next round of speeches, DJ Frederick of Silver Sound DJs lead the guests in a game to decide who would get to keep their tables centerpiece. After another round of speeches and Katherine’s dance with her dad, the cake was cut and the party kicked-off. The dance floor then opened with a special anniversary dance, with the winners being married over 50 years. Everyone was ready to dance the night away, bringing out all their best moves all night long.

As the wedding at the Michener Museum drew to a close, guests lined up to bid farewell to the newlyweds. Through a cascade of bubbles, Katherine & Garrett embarked on their journey into forever, hand in hand.
