In life, there are moments that just feel right from the start. Julie and Tommy’s story began at a friend’s party, where Julie had a gut feeling that Tommy was the one for her. Fast forward six years, and their wedding day was everything they’d hoped for. Set against the stunning backdrop of an October day, their wedding at the Philadelphia Ballroom had everyone on Cloud 9!
Getting Ready for the Philadelphia Ballroom Wedding
Despite a few hiccups, like a last-minute change in the getting-ready location, Julie’s focus remained on marrying Tommy. With her bridesmaids’ help, she slipped into her gorgeous gown from L&H Bridal, adding personal touches like her favorite charm bracelet and teardrop design necklace. A spritz of her go-to scent, the Chanel perfume that Tommy loves, was the final touch before she shared emotional moments with her dad and read Tommy’s heartfelt letter.
With her bridal party in tow, they hopped aboard a classic Cescaphe Trolley and headed for the St. Cecilia ceremony, where their love story would take its next beautiful step.
Back at their cozy Northeast Philadelphia abode, Tommy was busy putting the finishing touches on his wedding day attire, feeling a flutter of nerves amidst the anticipation. Meanwhile, his groomsmen indulged in a few rounds of dice and savored some cold drinks, adding a touch of camaraderie to the pre-wedding jitters. Before slipping into his timeless jacket and adorning himself with a wooden floral boutonniere, Tommy found solace in a heartfelt letter penned by his beloved Julie.
St. Cecilia Wedding Ceremony
Awaiting them was the picturesque splendor of St. Cecilia, a sanctuary of tranquility perfectly suited for Julie and Tommy’s vows. As Tommy stood poised at the altar, both mothers couldn’t help but shed tears of joy. Then, as Julie, radiant in her bridal glory, entered the church on the arm of her father, Tommy’s nerves melted away. They were replaced by an overwhelming sense of joy at the sight of his soon-to-be wife. In a poignant moment of full-circle serendipity, Father Chris Walsh, who had once listened to Julie’s earliest confessions, now stood before them, officiating their union. With the exchange of rings, the trading of traditional vows, and the sealing kiss, Julie and Tommy embarked on their journey into forever, united as Mr. and Mrs. Donnelly.
Friends & Family
The opulent setting of St. Cecilia’s altar provided a breathtaking backdrop for formal portraits with Julie and Tommy’s families. But before that, we focused our lenses on our radiant bride, adorned in her exquisite lace gown, complemented by a charming cape and a flowing cathedral veil. With those cherished moments immortalized, the wedding party boarded the trolley bound for Pennypack Park on the way to the wedding celebrations at the Philadelphia Ballroom.
Arriving just as the sun dipped low on the horizon, the park bathed in the golden glow of sunset provided a picturesque setting. Against the backdrop of autumnal foliage, the bridesmaids in their elegant purple Azazie gowns, along with one stunning pantsuit, were complemented by their colorful Sola Wood bouquets.
Meanwhile, Tommy and his groomsmen kept it cool and classic, sporting matching aviator sunglasses, a thoughtful gift from the groom. After bidding farewell to the wedding party, we then spent a few moments alone with Julie & Tommy in their first few moments as husband & wife.
Wedding Portraits at Pennypack Park
For Julie and Tommy, walking together holds a special place in their hearts, making Pennypack Park the perfect setting for their wedding portraits. Amidst the vibrant tapestry of autumnal hues, the couple stood out, their love illuminated against nature’s canvas. Julie’s laughter, full of warmth and joy, resonated, while Tommy’s tender gestures spoke volumes of his adoration for his bride. As the sun dipped lower and the evening chill set in, we prepared to depart for the wedding at the Philadelphia Ballroom, but not before capturing one final portrait with the iconic Cescaphe Trolley after the driver’s skillful effort in maneuvering through the petite parking lot.
Wedding Reception at the Philadelphia Ballroom
Julie & Tommy’s dream of a romantic fall wedding at the Philadelphia Ballroom was meticulously brought to life by the Milillo Event Group. The elegant decor, featuring exquisite Sola Wood floral centerpieces and a traditional wedding cake adorned with vibrant purple blooms, perfectly complemented the warmth of the ballroom.
As the guests settled into their seats, they were captivated by the energetic entrances of the wedding party, eagerly anticipating the arrival of the bride and groom. The moment arrived, and amidst cheers of pure joy, Julie & Tommy were announced for the first time as Mr. & Mrs. Donnelly.
Tommy, now matching his groomsmen in a charming purple vest, swept Julie onto the dance floor for their first dance, accompanied by their favorite Ed Sheeran melody. Emotions ran high as Julie then shared a heartfelt father-daughter dance, while Tommy and his mother embraced a more playful rhythm.
Heartfelt speeches and toasts were delivered by Tommy’s closest friend and best man, Alex, and Julie’s lifelong friend of 27 years, Sue. Amidst the celebration, the newlyweds stole a moment away during dinner to cut their classic cake, and were graciously gifted with a personal present from Tommy’s parents—a quilt to cherish and pass down through generations.
With formalities complete, the dance floor beckoned, and guests danced the night away in jubilant celebration of the newly united Donnelly couple.
As excited as these two were for their wedding at the Philadelphia Ballroom, they were beyond happy to finally be husband and wife. Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Donnelly, we hope you stay on cloud 9 together forever!
